Crows Nest

I have missed some great bands play intimate sets in the Crows nest in recent years. I did stumble upon Cat Le Bon in 2014 purely by chance. Does anyone know of the best way to keep up with who is playing there ?

Usually the crows nest tweets each morning their daily lineup

And they also put a blackboard with the lineup outside - if I remember correctly they tweet a picture of that. But it's quite a walk up to read the blackboard!

... and you can be sure Stornoway, Toy and Jaguar Ma (DJ set) will be there!

I love the Crows Nest, probably my favourite venue on the site

... or Williams Green

Is this confirmed somewhere or just three bands that are regulars?

Just noticed this has its own thread.

could we gather all the info so far in here? Crows nest is one of my favourite places, so intimate, great vibe and some top bands. Jagwar Ma DJ in there and Toy have been highlights from past years.

Pumarosa is a very welcome addition as I was surprised to see they weren't on the Park or Williams Green.

who else do we know of? NZCA lines, toy?

wouldnt be surprised if we had boxed in 2nd set, big moon and more too.

love it up there!

One year they had their own mad cocktail I think but there's a bar next door now

I was just going to say, there are toilets up there now, and Trickets bar, so o no rush to get down.

I didn't notice there was a thread for this either. This is what I posted in the secret sets thread the other day:

Well if a Crows Nest slot counts as a secret set then there's The Parrots and NZCA Lines confirmed for Thursday and Friday night respectively. Also various bits and bobs that point to sets from Oddisee, Meilyr Jones, TOY, Stornoway, The Rockingbirds, Wesley Gonzalez and Rozi Plain.

But now you mention it, I think a Jono Ma DJ or Jagwar Ma set might be in the offing as well. Maybe @Divein knows a bit more of the wheres and whens?¿?¿?¿?¿

Never knew there was toilets up there either the amount of times I've walked down the hill to take a leak!

There is definitely a "fence-urinal-gutter-thing" (TM Pending) and a massive sewer pipe that takes it down past the BBC.  Can't remember any shitters though.

Sat on the floor  in front of Gruff while he played a couple of American Interior tracks.

Still gutted I missed Steve Mason playing Dry the Rain in 13.

I was at Gruff too, probably the busiest I've ever seen it. Here have a piccy to jog your memories...

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
    • In a 6,800-word Substack essay, external, the Clacton MP said "anti-white racism was embedded into the state", and that legislation aimed at equality was a form of "social cleansing"   .https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdjkd4mp93zo   The privileged white c**t hasn’t got a clue what racism is.
    • BBC iPlayer: Will serve as the main hub for past sets, including both recent hits and iconic archival gems. You can explore the BBC iPlayer to watch curated compilations, "Best of Glastonbury" recaps, and on-demand replays of historic headline performances. [1, 2, 3] TV Broadcasts (BBC Two & BBC Three): The channels will air dedicated compilation shows. Leading up to the weekend, you can watch archive programming such as Glastonbury: 70s Legends, 80s Legends, and 90s Legends on BBC Two. [1] Radio & BBC Sounds: Pop-up Glastonbury radio stations on BBC Sounds will feature non-stop coverage, including exclusive mixes and huge sets from past years
    • Got HBO Max to watch football so watched One Battle After Another which is a great film and deserves its awards and then rewatched Magnolia and that is a flipping amazing film...so much in it. (also rewatching Angels In America series which is also amazing).
