The biggest reason it doesn't work for me is that invariably I have next to no interest in so much of the big stages' bigger stuff. Last year, I saw only one of the six Other-Pyramid headliners. Chemicals were great, but it wouldn't have taken that much on say, Park, Acoustic etc to draw me away. If I look at this year's poster, in fact there is more on there that is calling to me than usual. But that notwithstanding, I will still spend 100x more time seeing stuff not on the poster than I will seeing stuff on it. For that reason, the real detail contained in the full line-up release of Glastonbury, and any festival I'm going to, is essential pre-arrival. I just wouldn't have as great a time with the amazing SURPRISE! of only knowing once pitched up!

That's a fair point - I probably split my time about 50/50 between the main stages and smaller stages. I've also discovered a lot of the acts seen at previous Glasto's through research etc. beforehand. I stand by what I said earlier: stage-by-stage announcements, from the smaller stages right up to the Pyramid, are my ideal

Yeah, I'd be fine with that. The only caveat I would add is that I'd always love the full line up to drop just a little bit earlier. It's true to say that, certainly in terms of anything musical (i.e. not so obsessively with T&C, Cabaret etc.) I go through every act, just to make sure that I don't miss a little gem mixed in there!

Over the years most of my very favourite bands have been discovered by scrutinising festival undercards to within an inch of their lives!

Again agreed, stage-by-stage announcements from the resales would be ideal, culminating in a Pyramid reveal at the end of April. That gives May/June to do the necessary research etc. I'm happy for Pyramid headliners to be revealed before resales if that's necessary however it doesn't bother me either way. In fact if they ever did adopt the full stage-by-stage reveal idea I'd be happy for the Pyramid headliners to be revealed as the final announcement / with the Pyramid reveal.

Is it common for 2 festivals to break the news the same day? Reading and Leeds had their splits etc this morning too..... Give glasto a chance to over shadow it!
