Last years "secret set" was an absolute nightmare, crush central.

The "secret set" was fine.

His announced set at the blues was dangerous. That place was far too small for him to play. Really bad planning.

If memory serves correctly I had the choice of seeing him or MGMT in 2014. Got swayed by friends to see MGMT and regretted it after they played their 2 main songs first (strange decision?) and everyone flocked out of the tent. Felt kinda bad for them but what did they expect?

Won't be making the same mistake this year. Will definitely be going to see him.

He was class at Arcadia in 2013

He was awful in Sonic (i think) in 2014.

Really depends where he plays and the sound quality as people have mentioned. As for his own tunes, you'll be lucky.

Yup, he was.  Mind you I was well off my tits so would have raved like a man on fire to the Countdown clock....

Not what this says?

Can't argue with the "don't go and see MGMT live" sentiment though.

I managed to get to the Blues stage to see Don Letts beforehand which was great and I really enjoyed Fatboy's set. Great atmosphere and danced non-stop with some equally medicated party people. If the kid with the kaleidoscope glasses is reading this, you made my night. Live, schmive, who gives a fuck, it's 2am on Sunday morning at Glastonbury and everyone's having a blast

I think it is totes lame if he doesnt play his own tunes, thats what he is about and many people who havnt seen him live before will be expecting him to play these classics. Might aswell just save your money glasto and hire someone off the street! But like someone mentioned with him being on the propper line up instead of being a secret act he might (fingers crossed) put on a propper show and not some shit you can go to on a night out in town

To be fair, he probably does.  Thing with Arcadia is that you can't really see the DJ in the booth that well and it's much better to be dancing and looking at the whole spectacle of the giant flame-throwing spider than watching whoever is pressing the buttons spinning the decks.  As long as the music's good it doesn't really matter and most of the music there is pretty good.  Most of the time I don't know the track or the DJ but doesn't stop me looning about and having a great time.

Have you seen a dj set by someone before?

Ive seen FBS many times at Glastonbury and other festivals and club nights.  If you turn up expecting a brilliant DJ set ala Carl Cox or Sasha you will be disappointed but if you want a good dance and have some fun then you cant go wrong with him.

He has played a 'live' set before at Glastonbury when he used to do his Palookavision shows on the back of the Palookvile album. He headlined the Other Stage in 2005 with this.

He only plays his own tracks with a live set up. Don't think I've seen a dj set from him before.

What's different about his live set up?  The only times I've seen him do his own stuff, it was still a DJ set, but just his own records being played.

I thought he'd retired these days as an artist anyway, so was strictly a DJ - not that there's anything wrong with that per-se, I'm quite looking forwards to seeing Carl Cox, for example.

Accidentally stumbled on his secret set in the Stonebridge bar on the Sunday afternoon last year. Was as DJ Ox if I recall. Wasn't too busy, we had enough space at the edge of the tent, busier as you went in. Played a lot of hits (some of his own) and FairPlay to him he was properly playing up to the crowd etc despite it being a small venue.

Also stopped when I was walking past the blues after Leftfield. Was absolutely rammed, couldn't hear a thing - left.

He used to use Ableton for his shows plus a few other bits of hardware. I'm pretty sure when he got mahoosive he would just press play on a track.

There's a thin line with some artists as to wether they mix or play live. Providing i know what im going to see beforehand i dont really care, ie, an act billed as live but not really playing live.

I don't think Ableton was out last time I saw him intentionally!

Maybe if he had released anything of interest in the last 10 years then people might be keen to hear his own output. Apart from that eat sleep rave one he did with Riva Starr any new stuff has been pretty scarce like.

My dream is a 90s 'big beat' dj set...

Maybe there could be a big beat special featuring Fatboy, Derek Dahlarge, Jon Carter, Bentley Rhythm Ace , Propeller Heads and The Wiseguys.

As far as I can remember big beats popularity coincided with a dearth of quality drugs and was quite popular as it sounded good when you were pissed and doing amyl nitrate/ Next thing you know the strong pills reappeared and everyone was listening to Dutch Trance and sticking glow in the dark clothes pegs on their heads..

    • Really well done, Primavera. Maybe the biggest name on the lineup as a surprise. (Ecpecially if Robert joins this)
    • There's one way it can get bigger- if Robert Smith joins her on stage
