The issue of bringing your own booze into bars has been raised before, with some people being asked to drink them outside. Glasto Worker raised the valid point that they pay a lot of money for their pitches, so it is understandable if they'd like to keep tables for paying punters, especially at busy times.

So I guess the answer is you may be able to drink your own in a bar, but don't be surprised if you're asked to finish it outside.

Good answer thanks, guess its just use a little common sense.

What are people's views/opinions on camping in bushy ground? I am aiming to arrive early wednesday morning via Gate D if i can. Looking at the map it looks perfect distance from the gate and car park. Anyone stayed there before and recommend it? or similarly if anyone doesn't recommend it? Doesn't look to be too far out and only a walk down the old railway line to the SE corner?

Have camped in Bushy ground a couple of times.

It is a short walk from Gate D and tends to be fairly quiet however it is close to Dance Village so if you pitch up at that end it can be noisy if you want an early night.

It is not the easiest place to get around the site from. we tended to head into Dance Village then left for John Peel/Pyramid or right for everywhere else - the only other way is all the way around Paines to Dairy and then onto the Park and other places. You can't access the Railway Line from there as it is blocked off and there is a farm there. The South East corner is a big old trek from Bushy.

Hmm how long is the walk from bushy to the SE corner? Doesn't really bother me too much if it is really long but will still be something we will need to factor in. Is there only 1 way in and out of bushy as well due to the dairy unit that's there? Suppose that explains why you go via the dance village to get everywhere.

No there are two main ways, through Dance village or back towards Gate D and then around Paines towards South Park.

With the John Peel moving this year then going through Pylon ground might be quicker for there at busy times.

Having said all that until the new map comes out we won't know if there are any unexpected changes that makes a difference. I seem to remember someone saying some new houses had been built possibly around the farm next to Bushy so that would change things as well.

I don't like wearing boots at festivals they're too heavy. I have a pair of wellies which are for sailing so they have a proper sole and good grip but by the end of Electric Picnic last year they were making my feet sore and that's only 3 days. Just ordered a pair of these should do the trick I reckon. I know I won't be spending long at my tent but what are people's opinions on camping chairs? At festivals where you can't bring your own booze into the arena they are kind of important because you tend to spend more time in the campsite drinking and sitting on the ground sucks especially if its wet. But were flying over so trying to minimize the amount of gear we have. I'm thinking if I need one I'll just buy it over there.

I've done a few picnics as well as life and oxegen(aka stab city:ph34r:)  trust me nothing will compare you for the walking and distance, although i love the rave in the woods it looks like an i pod dock compared to the late night entertainment at Glastonbury.

You'll get camping chairs over there they are handy for the mornings or when you're back at your tent getting beer changed etc. but apart from that you'll not need em.

as your flying it limits your weight but you can get a shuttle into the the supermarkets (takes an hour or 2) and stock up on beer or spirits but ideally i would stop on the way as it would be heartbreaking leaving the site once you've arrived. you'll save a shit load of money rather than buying in bars for 5 days.

This year will be my 2nd time, I went last year and it was my first time & first festival and I know I will be going every year (if possible) You'll have the time of your life, take plenty of alcohol and surround yourself with good people and you'll have a blast my friend, :) Catch you around!

You're going to have the time of your life. Take comfortable boots - Glastonbury is MUCH bigger than T. And you can take your own booze and there's no arena so you can take that booze WITH YOU to see bands. And there aren't just bands - there's lots of other stuff too. And it's brilliant.

I think that's pretty much the important stuff covered :D

(But seriously, read this, it's amazing. I've been going for over 10 years but I still read it every single year before I go: http://www.glastoearth.com/the-faq)

Wow that link is incredible! Can't wait to show all my (1st timer pals) :)

Woo hoo! Glasto next month :)

whats the general thoughts around spending money? I'm thinking £100 a day should easily cover it. We'll be having breakfast in the morning with food we've brought so it'll really be for dinner and a snack during the day plus a few drinks throughout the day.

£100 per day is about right for a couple of people living in reasonable comfort, I think.  I spent around £250 last year on my own on a couple of meals a day, a few drinks from the bars and a T-shirt.

It depends totally on how much booze you bring with you/other items you might consume.

I allowed myself 3 meals and two pints a day from the official places - the rest was all from cases I took with me. So that was no more than £50 a day!

I reckon £50 a day covers it for me, apart from allowing for the purchase of a peace offering to take home to Mrs GH, which tends to be a bit of quality arts and crafts.

Cool if I budget for £400 over the weekend that should do it then. Looking at bringing plenty booze so shouldn't have to buy much there but will be nice to sample the ciders as mentioned earlier.

really can't wait! Just hoping they release the full line up soon

Have an amazing time! And that sounds about right for a budget. I would say some of the best bits Glastonbury has to offer is between 2-7 in the morning, you'll find some real gems. Pace yourself, get enough rest, have a sick time xX

Camped in bushy last year right by the fence and it was great. Good neighbours, clean toilets and easy access to water without major queues and its quiet so you can get your sleep in when your'e at the tent. Its a long walk to everything but if you leave your tent in the morning and don't come back for the day then its fine.

Are cards generally accepted on site, say credit card purchases of merch/ above mentioned quality arts, or is it stall by stall specific. All this talk of cash even when using the lock ups gets me nervous, got to get my wallet all the way from my front door through the gate before I can safely lock it up and I'm pants at loosing things at the best of times!

Most bars I accepted cards last year, can't remember about food stalls though

I'm far more worried about losing my cashcard than cash. I usually stash the card+extra cash in the lock ups and distribute notes all around my various pockets.

Plus there are cash machines on site and the queues aren't even that bad, especially early doors.
