For newbies - which we were last year - Wednesday is a complete trek round all the places and venues you've dreamed about, a load of pics and acting like a kid in a sweet shop. In fact I'm so excited now I suspect year 2 may be more of the same.

My third year and I'm planning on doing that again. Seeing it all again after a year away is great.

Where do the fireworks happen? Is it near strummerville?

Sacred space. It was ridiculously packed last year and we struggled getting out once they'd finished. Probably going to give it a miss this year.

Chatted to my mate who I'm going with. Looks like we hope to get in around midday. Help set up each other's tents whilst the ladies relax with a drink. We then join them, meet our neighbours then go for a wander in the evening up to the stone circle then to the cider bus.

Last year we set up camp with the group of us. Had a catch up with them then went for a wander. Up through the green peace area through the stone circle and then went to say hello to the stone dragon. From there it was over to The Stonesbridge bar for a pint or 2, visited the brothers bar for another meet up with friends and more beer. Headed back to the camp to see the late comers before heading back up to stonesbridge for yet another meet up before going to download when the first works were going off. It was a bit of a blue after that but I know we wondered around the common after before coming home to crash.

Now it's April, I have been starting to dream of the resale and so I have been reading threads on here nearly all day.  I am now even more desperate to get a ticket.  So jealous of you all planning what to do when you get there.

Loved the Wednesday when we went. Set up tent, a few beers sitting outside and then exploring, finding bars and tents with music and generally being soooooo excited.  Loved the Avalon bar - my niece decided it's where she wants to get married (despite not even having a boyfriend at the time!).

Just hope I'll be there again this year.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have been for a few years now and I love Wednesday! I have seen a few really good performances at Toad Hall and other small stages in the Green Fields - they tend to be quite a lot of acoustic performances.

Last year there were also some good bands on at the croissant neuf bandstand.

Then later on the Rocket Lounge has bands on and a good bar with cocktails late into the night including some very good ones. They are more full band performances... a lot of ska, rockabilly and blues type stuff.

Has anyone had a Wednesday where its been pouring with rain as you arrive, whilst you're setting up camp and for the rest of the day? Its sounds like such a disappointment but I would have thought its odds on to have happened one year.

Yes, it was dreadful because we got there at peak time and had to queue during a downpour and then put up tents during another downpour. Stuff didn't really dry out particularly well because of the amount of water that ended up in the tents. Didn't matter though, we just upped our drinking levels so we didn't notice the wetness as much.

Sounds like the perfect remedy! I can handle rain sporadically throughout the weekend but I just really feel like it would be a downer if it poured non-stop. Then again, it's not often nowadays that we get 3 or 4 days of non-stop rain ever.

Green Futures, bandstand, Greenpeace area for me on the Wednesday

Generally don't get the time to enjoy those areas once the main stages start at the weekend, so it's good to catch up on the music and activities there. Stumbling onto a band playing or bit of a show going on is one of the best bits of the week, along with the magical bit where it gets dark and you see the site by night for the first time

    • Geese playing for 1:20 instead of just an hour was a lovely surprise. The energy was great!
    • Oh well that's why then, I assumed it was still the same. Thanks!
    • Think this will be it...I think they are a level above trees.
