So many places he could go.  Low Pyramid, Mid Other, high JP/Park/Acoustic.

I've only seen him once back in '07/'08 and he was excellent so I'd love to see him again.

In terms of where to start, it's a tricky question.  "Cole's Corner" is certainly his breakthrough album and so probably a good place to start.  Not everyone agrees that it's his best though.

He's someone who's always passed me by. Best album(s) to start with? Ta.

Depends on your mood. If you're feeling romantic, Truelove's Gutter. If you're feeling psychedelic, Standing At The Sky's edge. Personally, my favourite of his albums is probably Lady's Bridge. Just go all out and download the lot - I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Lowedges or Sky's Edgeprobably best bets as two ends of the spectrum I think but there's enough in most of his stuff to find something to enjoy I would have thought. His Hank Williams type stuff is good as well

Park headliner would be my best guess but could see an afternoon pyramid slot as  a possibility. Comfortably on my 'won't miss' list this year

I'd start with Cole's Corner.

Then Standing at the Sky's Edge - some amazing guitar playing on that record.

Live he seems to have managed to merge the x2 styles seemlessly, or he did last time I saw him. Probably a weighting towards the crooner type stuff.

Quite a coup I reckon. After reading this article a couple of years ago I'd given up hope of him ever playing my favourite festival.

Where/when do we reckon he'll play?

Strange seeing as he joined up with Duanne Eddy on West Holts a few years back. Maybe it was just a promo thing.

That high?

I love him, but the only time I've seen him was at a half full Southampton Guildhall a few years ago

Do you think? Looks like he stacks up ok against this year's possibilities and 2014's headliners (15 looks a bit stronger in terms of general popularity and recognition to me).

I'm no good at predicting this stuff either way though to be honest so who knows

Some tunes to give you a flavor!

Coles Corner

The Ocean

The Sea Calls

Open up your Door

Remorse Code

Dont stare at the Sun

Leave your body behind you

Tonight the streets are ours

Very good live, but having seen him a few times over the last 2 tours I will probably give him a swerve if he clashes with an unseen fancy!

I saw that on the Sunday afternoon when Paul Simon was on the Pyramid. Richard had just produced Duane's new album at the time

I'm wanting to check out these recommendations but I'm actually scared of getting into any of the artists on the lineup as they'll just end up clashing with others I want to see.

Think I'll leave the discovery phase until we get the next poster and I can form a better idea of who I'll be able to see.

Saw Hawley in 2013 at Rock Werchter and he was very good despite me knowing none of his material.

You could be right, I'm crap at predicting things like this as well. I tend to think about the popularity of an artist when I saw them even though they may now be immensely more popular. Case in point is The Foals who are apparently now massive and probably Pyramid subheadliners, while I tend to still think of them as a little art rock band who I saw supporting Sunshine Underground nearly 10 years ago.

Oof, some fine choices there. I can't wait!

Richard Hawley is pure class and a great booking.

As for albums, I'd check setlist.fm to see what he's playing.

'Standing at the Sky's Edge' is very heavily represented, it's the most psychedelic one, not my personal favorite. Also his newest 'Hollow Meadows', not a masterpiece either but some amazing tunes in there - can't get enough of 'Tuesday PM'.

'Tonight's the Streets are Ours' might be his best song, and is probably guaranteed to be played. 'Coles Corner' is a fantastic album, and the title track is brilliant and will probably be played. 'The Ocean' is the show closer and it's really epic live, getting to 8-9 minutes:

So I'd say these are the essentials. 'Open Up Your Door' from Truelove's Gutter is also a live staple.
