There are early rumours that she's going to use her Pyramid headline slot to announce that she's moving to Villefranche Sur Mer.

Imagine what her next album will sound like though. A real loose, more groovy, sweaty take on trad.balladeering.

Hmm.   I'm sure if given the choice people would pay less tax.  No one likes to pay it.... and have a right to be bitter about it. (It's an opinion right)

At least she's paying it vs some corporations and other artists who are actively seeking to avoid it.

Nah not me. Think tax is 100% a good thing.

Cant argue that it's a great booking for the festival but personally don't like her and her comments did irk. Am hard wired left though.

Adele, and the machine that surrounds her will have created millions in tax payments for this country one way or another. Hanging her over a throwaway comment when she was kid is quite something! Is this what 'sticking it to the man' has been reduced to? Grumbling about Adele on a niche meb forum?

Didn't she donate a load of tickets to fundraise for the Conservative party last month?

That's not me joining in any 'SHE SHOULDN'T PLAY' hysteria because that is clearly an excuse from people who don't like her music- nobody cares about the Tory cheese maker Alex James for example. However I do think if that's true, there are legitimate reasons not to like her.

This is all I can find on it:

And still people refuse to condemn a multi millionaire for complaining about having to help fund social services. Amazing.

Keep tugging your forelocks people.

I don't condemn people for having an opinion  -  that is my right, you my friend can do you what you like with yours.  My only issue when people get righteous about what is the right / wrong opinion to have on debate.. that I think is completely ridiculous.

Just to be clear, I THINK SHE IS A GOOD BOOKING FOR THE FESTIVAL.

I don't personally take to her. Not based solely on her tax comments more on her overall persona. It grates on me.

Wouldn't be surprised if she still holds those views though, probably a case of having better PR (and tax) advisors now.

I didn't realise having good 'banter' (what a hateful word that is) is a prerequisite for headlining the pyramid stage these days. But Adele fans seem very keen to ram this down our throats.

Why?

I suppose vocally complaining about having to contribute towards social services is just 'banter' too.

I will always judge someone for taking such a stance.

But then you would prefer not to pay tax. Not surprising we have differing opinions.

21 year old gets hit with first big tax bill and isn't happy about it. But pays it. And has payed millions upon millions since. 5 years later people have doubts about her playing the festival.

Blur bass player. Tory voter and personal friends with Tory leader - best gig ever! Yaay!

In this thread: Weirdos who have some point to prove that Adele is a shining pillar of the community, as well as weirdos who have some point to prove that she isn't.

Thanks, never been called weird before :)

She's been in touch with me this morning, wanted me to polish up her onstage witticisms and between song banter. Here's the script so far.

'oooooooo... farking 'ell, there's a lot of you, ain't there'

'I'm bleeding shitting myself here'

'Ow the farking 'ell did this happen, eh?'

'7 years, ago, I played a little stage here, the BBC introducing stage, 'ere I am today, can you farking believe it. I can't'

'All them uvver boring bastards that said I was shit, you can fark awf'

Cross them all off as she says them, first one to get a full house, wins a prize.

    • I got super early bird too....i was that chuffed i ticked a couple of the charity contribution boxes
    • I would be very surprised as well if they are are European Festivals and Werchter isn't one of them. They have done Roskilde before but with big gaps   They have done NOS once and they have done Mad Cool once while playing 3 times at Werchter during the period Mad Cool has ran.
    • Whole thing seems a bit sus to me.
    • wtf. Those Moroccons in Cueta can't just go into EU anyway, they would need to go through further checks before Schengen.
