i often look up a recent setlist during the gig and check back to it through the show to see how far we're through, what songs might be coming next etc.

did this at muse too, would i be included in this category? never looked up lyrics to be fair haha

I'd say you're walking a very fine line...

haha now im worried it was me you saw perusing the setlist mid gig and you thought i was looking up lyrics

No the gent next to me was looking up lyrics. He had the menu open and his teenage son was telling him the song titles. Bizarre behaviour.

Reading song lyrics during a song is very strange! Do your homework pre gig or hear a song you like during it and scout it afterwards. Makes me wonder if this guy was attempting to sing along in his head. My biggest pet hate is people who feel the need to record the whole songs or even a whole gig. The odd photo or at a push odd video is fine but i seen far too many people recording nigh on the full gig. What happened to being there in the moment and enjoying it rather than trying to see it all through a lens?

I think one advantage of Festivals is that there are fewer people filming (I assume mainly due to phone batteries and old Nokia 'festival phones' etc). I can't help but have my eyes drawn to the screen of a phone or camera if it is between me and the stage and find it so annoying. As Doug said - I've no issue with the odd photo as a memory jogger but I can't understand why people would want to watch the whole thing through their screen only to be left with a video with minimal sound quality and probably wobbling all over the place. Do they really re watch it?

It's like people taking videos of fireworks - I just don't understand it.

I think the worst I've seen was someone video chatting with a mate who was sat on a sofa. The person at the gig held his phone up so all anyone behind him could see was this odd looking chap on a phone screen not even looking too interested.

Also more comically than ranty I once saw someone trying to use Shazam to identify which song was being played at a Biffy Clyro gig once. I'm not sure how he thought that would work.

Well Glasgow (night 1) wins the best setlist award, IMO: Map, Bliss, Citizen, Stockholm, & Take a Bow.

EDIT: that said, I'd have liked the London set which got Assassin and Apocalypse Please as I've not seen those live before.

Has there ever been a headliner that nobody complained about?

Certainly not in the last 10 years.

Amusingly, looking at the list of who's done it - I reckon the last one might have been Muse, the first time they headlined in 2004. Can't remember any complaints about that, or maybe they were there and I just missed them.

People didn't think they were big enough at the time, me included.
