even though Drones was probably worse i think i'd still put The Resistance bottom of my list just for how much of a crushing disappointment it was after my months of insane anticipation

Wasn't Uprising released a month before The Resistance? Surely that must have been a warning!

I was young and foolish at the time, so I loved Uprising. Even then, I was still thinking, 'wtf is this shit?' when I heard songs like Undisclosed Desires and Guiding Light.

yeah Uprising was the first crashing disappointment, but i thought i'd give them the benefit of the doubt as i'd loved the previous albums. what a mistake that was

I'd say the albums go from best to worst in reverse chronological order. Are they any other bands like this? I can't think of any. LP8 has a lot to live up to

1. Drones

2. The 2nd Law

3. The Resistance

4. Black Holes and Revelations

5. Absolution

6. Origin of Symmetry

7. Showbiz

Oasis must come close.

I have long argued Arctic Monkeys are one of these 'reverse chronological order' bands. In other words, they get better with each album. I know their debut is much revered and it meant a lot to me at the time, but I think they have got more lyrically and musically interesting each time

Name another "reverse chronological order" band please.

1. Humbug

2. Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not

3. AM

4. Suck It and See

5. Favourite Worst Nightmare

FWN never did much for me.

Suck It and See was trash in my opinion, I'd move Favourite Worst Nightmare up to third and move the other two down. Absolutely agree that Humbug was the best though.

Hey! I won't Undisclosed Desires put in with Guiding Light!

Anyway Muse list time!

  1. Origin Of Symmetry
  2. Hullabaloo Soundtrack
  3. Absolution
  4. Showbiz
  5. Black Holes and Revelations (This seems to keep slipping for me, it used to be 2nd!)
  6. The 2nd Law
  7. HAARP
  8. The Revolution
  9. Drones
  10. Live at Rome Olympic Stadium

1. OOS

2. Absolution

3. BHAR

4. Showbiz

5. Drones

6. Resistance

7. 2nd Law

2nd Law is the worst album of all time. Not one song should feature on a setlist. I love the psycho riff that destroyed glasto 04 and Reapers is one of their best songs imo. OOS was just pure raw guitar drum bass vocals with some great songs!

The 2nd Law and Drones are very weak on the whole. Can't really choose between them, both have some utter garbage, especially the last 4 tracks on The 2nd Law. Lyrically though Drones is one of the worst albums I've ever heard, if not the worst, so it's going last.

In meaningless but sort of related news, I had a dream last night that Glasto announced a few acts including Muse as a headliner. Subbed by "LCD NY SS" which lead asleep me to be very confused as to why they hadn't written LCD Soundsystem or if it was a different band I'd never heard of.

In terms of bands who I'd rank their albums in reverse chronological order, I'd go with At The Drive In and Nirvana.

Hey Isolated System is a good song, I'd say The 2nd Law is by far worse than both The Resistance and Drones though and that's saying something.

I agree with above though, Drones is the worst lyrics fr any album I've ever heard.

Tame Impala for me is a band that gets better with each album

Tame Impala have the opportunity of becoming known as greats (or great!) I'd say only him and Kendrick have that that potential right now. Wonder if Tame Impala could move onto headline status with another great album.

    • TOP 10 acts (top 5 in bold😞   Blood Orange (ciutat)   Guitarricadelafuente   Oklou - Looks like I'm capable of enjoying music in the rain after all, just not the whole night.   Rilo Kiley   The Cure   Jade   Depresión Sonora   Gelli Haha (Parc del Forum) - Her music never really clicked with me. Until I saw her live.   MARINA   Six Sex (ciutat) - I was shocked how supersmall the venue was and that almost everyone (except for me) knew every word of every song (including the ones that were released this weekend!).   Honorable mention:   Ashnikko - missed the first 15 minutes (because of Gelli Haha) and I'm not really a fan of her music, but the show was an absolute blast.
    • Totally agree about PinkPantheress stage choice. 'Luckily' for me, one of my main targets, fakemink, was absolutely awful, meaning that I left early and was in a surprisingly good spot at Cupra before it got totally packed.
    • As many said before, not my favourite Primavera. sh*tty weather is something I'm not really used to when enjoying music. Poor communication (more than 1 hour long radio silence during the worst rain) didn't help, but the main problem was me. I decided to leave the venue after things seemed to be getting back to normal. Massive Attack were supposed to play again (with Hymn of the Big Wheel back on the setlist!) as were all other artists on the smaller stages (including Fcukers with one my favourite albums of the year). FOMO was at an all-time high. However, after 4 hours in the rain, I had to admit to myself that I'm not cut out for this. I wasn't even that soaked (water-proof jacket worked). I was just fed up with the rain, wind and cold and wasn't able to enjoy music anymore.   Also, they should stop ignoring the growth of some artists between signing them up and their actual performance. Both PinkPantheress and Ninajirachi sets were ruined for me by completely inadequate stage choice.   However, I felt very much the same way after the 2022 edition and have thoroughly enjoyed all subsequent editions. So I'm still buying early bird tickets for 2027 and hoping this was a hiccup not the start of a downward trend.
    • I will definitely be buying a 2027 early bird pass, partially because of the priority reservation privileges for the Ciutat sets. Hopefully the organization will take action to improve upon this year's failings. Because I thought the free water options and sound quality were an improvement over last year, so clearly they can actually implement positive changes.   I also hope all the douchebag chompers get in the sea, cause I was more bothered by them than in the past few years.   Highlights: The Cure, Ninajirachi, Knocked Loose, Current 93, Blood Orange.
    • Similar feelings to a few others on here. Not my personal favourite edition but a long way from giving up on it. Felt overcrowded at times and there are just too many people there that don't seem to like music that much! Hardly went to main stages which was the plan. Highlights Ralphie Choo, rusowsky, Gorillaz, Geese, Gelli Haha, The Sophs, PinkPantheress, Dijon. Accommodation booked for next year. Thanks for your company and comments over the past year.
