Saw her on tour a couple of years back (promoting a new album, she is still making music). She knows exactly what fans want and I think she did nearly the entirety of Jagged Little Pill in her set still. She was brilliant, got an amazing voice. Still managed to conjure up some of that old rage. Would be a brilliant middle of the Pyramid type act I think.

Same here, she was great, her rapper boyfriend supporting her was absolutely awful though.

Fucking hell came in to this thread expecting it to be full of people slating the idea of her appearing. How shocked I was to see even russy up for it

dont know much of her stuff outside of Jagged Little Pill, but man what an album that is. Probably ain't gonna happen, but I'd love it to

The most shocking thing about this thread is that I might be older than Russy.

I imagined a hairy orange curmudgeonly 50 year old! ;-)

For anybody who hasn't had the pleasure of reading Morrissey's Mein Kampf, I'll recount a delightful segment where he claims that in the mid 90s the head of whatever the fuck label he and Alanis Morrisette were both on had decided to plump up an indie artist on their roster for massive success. He firstly chose Morrissey, and invited old Moz into his office to discuss his impending success. Moz said something edgy that the suit couldn't handle, so he chucked poor Mozza out and decided he would funnel label resources into the next artist on the list alphabetically.

True story. The most rewarding part is Morrissey's sorry attempt at aping Catch-22 style absurdity in the offices of the army-like record label.

can you imagine how much more insufferable Morrisssey would be had one of his albums sold  30-odd million copies?

In all fairness, Morrissey's albums around that point were incredible. As albums, I think Vauxhall & I and Your Arsenal are both equal to and possibly better than The Smiths' albums. i think he's reach peak insufferable anyway, and insufferable is a relative term, I still find him an entertaining/endearing buffoon.

The first of my friends to pass their driving test was a girl called Tina.  We drove around, going nowhere in particular with Jagged Little Pill on, for months.  Happy days.

I would enjoy seeing her at Glastonbury

Did Tina get a ticket, or is she going to try in the resales?

I tried reading Morrissey's autobiography but gave up after 100 or so pages. Just couldn't take any more moaning.  I'm sure Manchester in the 60's wasn't that bad, the way he bloated on you'd think he was describing 80's Sarajevo.

Oh God, Morrissey account of his upbringing. Did the even Jews have it that bad?

It's an amazing piece of literature, the first page alone nearly killed me. If you believe him, then his entire time in The Smiths was unilaterally terrible. The Smiths headline a show in New York; Morrissey reports that New York is cold and he didn't like his hotel, awful trip. The Smiths reach number two in the charts on relatively small indie record label; Morrissey reports how The Smiths were cruelly robbed of their rightful spot at number one because the evil villains at Rough Trade deliberately pressed too few records in order to personally attack him, as they have a deep-seated vendetta against his godly majesty which supersedes their desire for their business to do well.

He absolutely revels in it when he gets sued and people genuinely are mean to him. He was crucified like Christ! Only a week ago people were throwing their coats down in front of him as he rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. He tries to paint himself as a benign messianic figure who is kind to animals and beloved by all of those who are true of heart, and then has something horrendously catty to say about every single individual he's ever encountered except for Johnny Marr and his mam.

I believe it to be the greatest satirical work of our time, I never knew Moz had it in him to be so ironic.

Assuming both names are spelt correctly, Morissette would be before Morrissey on the list. I smell a rat.

Why would the Wonderful Wizard of Moz want to lie to us, Dental? Why?

Thanks to this post, I now have a, second hand obviously, copy of this great work of art on its way to my humble abode.
