Radiohead touring in 2016

Just thinking about why certain acts would want the announcement to come at the start of June.

I wonder if (assuming it's RH), they asked to be announced after their London shows? Not sure why they would necessarily ask that but I thought it's worth throwing out there. Perhaps not to take the thunder away from the Roundhouse shows? Or, perhaps they are planning to announce it on Saturday during their final London date?

I also like the suggestion that they are waiting until after the Big Weekend shows.

My ultra-opmtimistic view is that an arrangement has been made for Radiohead to self-confirm at the Roundhouse. This will give a couple of days before the full line up for the press to cover it, otherwise their inclusion on the poster would over-shadow everything else.

That's along the lines of what I was thinking too.

I just don't know if Radiohead are the 'self confirm on stage' kind of band. We'll see I guess.

I like your point that it would overshadow everything else on the poster if they weren't announce beforehand. That's the kind of optimistic thinking I can get behind.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/-/172217837866 I know there was someone asking for tickets, well, this seems like a good chance to give some money to charity but also get proper tickets for the gigs. By proper tickets I mean non tout tickets.

I'm not holding much hope of getting a second ticket for Friday. I'm not fussed, would've been nice to share the experience with someone else but previously at Radiohead gigs I'm often in awe so don't want inbetween song chatting.

Not long to go now.

Guess this will have already been mentioned somewhere in this thread but this quote from the roundhouse website suggests the addition of more festival dates...

Radiohead will play a series of live shows later this year which, together with the festival dates already announced and a few more festival dates to follow, will complete their touring schedule for 2016.

I think this quote was from an old press release which was put on the website before all of the summer festivals were confirmed. Mainly ones in the US which have since been announced.

Fingers crossed, but could be more international festivals that maybe run later into the year - hopefully not!

It's another one of those little bits of info that is in no way conclusive, but can't be written off either. We have so many bits of info like that. We just need something less vague!

About the queue - if you're in the first 50 or so there's a well established routine that'll let you wander away for a toilet break or whatever.  Ask at the head of the queue when you arrive.  I don't know how regimented the queue is further back but usually I volunteer my place-keeping services to the people immediately in front and behind me and they reciprocate.  If you arrive after the first 100 or so I'd say there's little point queueing.

I don't think they'll announce it on stage. In reality, out of those 3,000(?) people in attendance not many will be going to Glastonbury and the majority won't care. It isn't like Adele whose tour was huge in the mainstream press and for whom an onstage Glastonbury announcement would be reported everywhere.

I know this is a massive long shot but if anyone ends up having a spare ticket for Thursday at the roundhouse I am desperate for one! Had a bit of a mix up when the last batch of tickets got released and helped my my mate get tickets for Saturday instead of Thursday. I need 1 ticket so my girlfriend can join us on Thursday.

To ensure I'm not losing my mind, I've shown these images to friends who are not completely obsessed with Radiohead and asked "what do you see?".

Not one has said "oh that's without question the pyramid stage at glastonbury".

They called the recent photo "LSD". I asked them "what... like LSD at Glastonbury?".

Their response was that I should sort my life out, stop clutching and get over it...

    • Am a relative amateur in the ticket/tech shenanigans and not part of a large group etc. but personally preferred the F5 bashing approach and got through twice in recent yrs (plenty when didn't, mind) - 2023 but it crashed on me at the final hurdle and then again in 2024 where I held my nerve when it crashed again and managed to get.  Think now I am committed to volunteering if doing festivals as that's close to my heart, so happy to help others when the time comes round.   The most impressive I've seen was bus sales in 2022 when 2 mates casually bagged tickets while in San Sebastian, on a phone inside the stadium during a Real Sociedad v Man Utd game!
    • I wouldn’t be surprised if it was £425.  If I recall there was a significant jump about 10 years ago and with the prices of gigs significantly inflating in the last couple of years I can see another big jump coming.
    • I think they are just sold out ..... I find it highly unlikely that the entire arena wouldn't go on sale for a band the size of muse straight away.   Theres also some in those blocks on sale on resale sites
    • Personally, I do hope Fontaines headline next year. Feels like it's their time in terms of the contemporary element - I know 2028 could equally be but I think (and speaking as an old git) they are probably the most significant band to emerge for a good few years, and they've already accumulated 4 great albums, let alone adding 5th, to field a memorable setlist.
