yeah but you have 2 big crowds in 2 different areas of the site thats what im saying, I think glastonbury know they need to provide a strong headliner on the other stage that night as a `lot` of people arent going to want to watch adele and radiohead would fit that to a tee.

ah sorry your post came while i was typing mine out, i was talking about Radiohead subbing Adele

i agree Radiohead could headline the Other but i think we're 99% sure it's New Order that night

Aside from tbe fact that Radiohead won't be playing (IMHO), I can't help but wonder to myself how much debate has gone on in here compared to at Radiohead 'HQ':

RH Management (or whoever), poking head round door of studio - 'Lads, do you fancy playing Glastonbury this year?'

Thom, on behalf of the lads - 'As Pyramid headliners?'

Management - 'No, headlining the Other or subbing Adele'

Thom - 'Hmmn. What about a secret set?'

Management - 'Too dangerous after 2011'

Thom - 'Nah, yer alright thanks'

FIN.

Misses out the bit where they debate Adele's merits as a headliner and complain that the festival's not as good as it used to be.

Didn't have time to write the unabridged version whilst hiding in the shitter at work.

I dont think theyll sub adele just because as others have said itd be chaos.....esp between acts people going to and from the space.

I said they'd have a very Stones-friendly act before the Stones for the same reason. They didn't. So I don't think that really holds.

If Radiohead were to have a big crowd and (most likely) Adele a much bigger crowd, that actually works out as being a huge chunk of the same people in the same place.

It could certainly be done.

I reckon they'll still play - Neil seems pretty sure that they will if his info is good and that's good enough for me *clutches straws :P*

I don't think there's any need for straw clutching.

Matey who's given me this info has only ever given me good info, including good Radiohead info. It's more likely to be correct than not.

I love you Neil, I really do.

what your saying it you belive they are playing, in some way, at some point during the festival? can we take that from what you just posted? itd get rid of mungos headcold in one fell swoop for one :P

he's  been saying that for months - it was only the brief bit of info from another direction saying no UK festivals for Radiohead that scuppered it, but i believe he has more confidence in the other source considering it's proven good info for Radiohead in the past on more than one occasion

Not seen it put so favorably in favor of they are playing until now, unless ive missed something

he's definitely been that confident about it in the past, although it always raises my spirits to see it written it out like that again :P

Personally I will watch New Order over Adele. However, I really don't see them having enough appeal to split the massive crowd that will be at Adele.

Is it 100% New Order as other headliner? For me to split the crowd, New Order wouldn't draw enough away. If (god willing) Radiohead are playing, they have to be Other headliner? No?

Is it silly thinking New Order into Radiohead on the Other maybe? That's good enough for the Pyramid

I think this would definitely be possible and both bands would be game with it, considering the circumstances of having such a huge headliner on the main stage.

Only trouble is New Order seem so nailed on to headline the Other. Unless something's changed since the last bit of info.

I believe that what matey has told me (that they'll be playing) is more likely to be correct than wrong. That's what I've said all along, and it's what I still think.

His info has always been accurate before.
He's an unusual source (compared to others), who only sends me info about a single band each time he's sent me info, which hasn't been every year.
His previous accurate info has included Radiohead the last time they played.

I can't guarantee the info is correct because I'm relying on what he's told me and the only way I have to gauge that info is from his past history, and just because he's been right in the past doesn't guarantee he's right this time ... but I think it's more likely he's right than wrong.

That's all I can tell you. Make your own mind up from that.

Because of that I reckon it was definitely right at the time and probably still is. Only worry I have, is what I think you may have mentioned before, that it may have changed in that time (because he's said no more). Perhaps because of Adele umming and ahhing.

But basically agree with you. If someone has a 100% track record you've got to have some faith in the info!

    • I've heard that ticket sales for other events that use the same system have included the question 'are you still there?' on each window/browser you have with a place in the queue. If you don't confirm you are, it'll assume you're not and that place will drop.   I've no idea if Glasto/See will adopt this, but it would be challenging to keep on top of with many windows open.
    • People who're struggling are already priced out, so I don't think a bump in price will affect who attends. There'll still be a cross section, leaning young. I also think they'll do a soft breaking of the £400 ceiling, keeping the ticket price just below but having postage take it over. Next year the ticket itself will be over that threshold.

    • Not sure if this has been mentioned but new La Roux album out November - was meant to play in 2020 but hasn't found her way back onto a lineup. If any excuse just to hear this absolute banger on the fields next year!
    • Yeh, the quiet camping also seems to be on the same side (broadly) as the bits of the festival that go on the latest (Far Out / Chai Waalahs / RTT until 4am). We're always in Tangerine Fields which is right behind the main stage and as soon as that and Rising Stage are done it's pretty quiet (midnight onwards) which I'd guess is pretty similar if you can hack taking all your gear from the car past the big tree in the middle and into the campsites that side.
