Was saying to Nal earlier that the "Galacticos" years are over.

it was always something with a limited lifespan.

And it's a good thing anyway, I say. Perhaps now the dreadful boring old farts have done their thing to death we can get back to youngsters being imaginative today.

I didnt visit the Pyramid Stage once last year .Still had an absolute blinding time elsewhere on the site!

Each to your own and the like but spending the whole festi down there i dont just get to be honest ,there are other "Arena" festivals for that .And I think spending your life getting wound up and nasty on crappy social media sites like Twatter or Fuckbook about something that really only amounts to a couple of hours out of each day  really is terrible waste of the time we have all been graciously given.

No gun to my head, I booked my ticket in good faith because of the whole event and not just the headliners. However I have my opinion and I have expressed it without directly targeting Emily and without using abuse. I am disappointed and it will be the first year I haven't seen a Pyramid Headliner. Its not the end of the world I have been enough times to know of plenty of hidden gems to take my time.

You do know the Pyramid is a side show? A distraction technique to woo the uninitiated whilst everyone else buggers off to a much better party. :)

Saying that I'll be at Flo for many reasons including my bad taste in music

you've probably addressed this before - but given the current set up of the festival, big names dragging in a good portion of the crowd, whose ticket money then subsidises the other stuff at Glasto - how do you see it evolving in future if the biggest of names are no longer expected?  could you ever see the festival downsize?

I agree. One more last hurrah from radiohead then that's it for pyramid headliners and me.

As neil says, let the yoof take it over. Hopefully they can get their thumbs out of their arses and make some music that will match up to the greats.

Oh no, that would be the worse solutio0n of all.

Not Emily, but a pretend fake Emily?

No, no no. I'd rather she didn't bother with any of it than agreed to put a fake version of herself out there.

It's precisely because Glastonbury doesn't do that sort of thing which makes it different.

This thought was at the back of mind as I was typing. But then I also thought - rather that than her become disenfranchised with it all and consider throwing the towel in. Perhaps she's far more thick skinned than this - I dunno as I have never met her. Anyway, its only Twitter and Facebook after all... ?

When it's done right a Pyramid headliner is incomparable.

Yeah. Rolling Stones 2013 and Stevie Wonder 2010 will be memories that will stand out in my mind forever.

Absolutely nothing can beat the anticipation before The Stones came on in 2013. Was infectious.

Don't hold your breath... I admit to having little confidence in any yoof led musical movement occurring again in my lifetime.

And the end with the crowd singing Satisfaction back to them.

The smoke, from both stage and flares, that created a sinister red ceiling during Sympathy for the Devil will live long in the memory. It felt like an indoor gig for 5 minutes. Really surreal.

I'm sure the decision wasn't all Emilys either..must be a dozen people up there in the booking ranks.

Including BBC officials who would be thinking about viewing figures also.

Sad but true I would imagine

Unfortunately a victim of their own success to coin a phrase.. Festival grows in popularity, demand gets higher, fucktards that tag along with new found popularity tarnish peoples good will.. Has this happened before?

Cretinous, half-witted morons shouting shit online is part of today's world, I wish hayfever on the swines

The BBC don't have a say in who gets booked. Their choice is limited to who they want to film (and the acts can say 'no').

There's a lot of different bookers, but mostly they're one for each individual stage. Emily and her hubby Nick book the Pyramid nowadays perhaps with some Michael input, and perhaps with some input from just one or two others (Martin Elbourne, etc).
