I'm not happy at all about the 12m shelvey reports. Seems an awful deal for Toon and could give a rival money to get an actually good player.

Saivet on the other hand I'm delighted about. Since tiote became dogshit we've needed a good dm.

If we spend it on anyone it'll be a striker, that's if we can find anybody dull enough to come to us...

Think we've over paid for Shelvey but he's an England International so what do you expect?

Not too surprising - apparently we get 30% of the sell on fee so Swansea were going to hold out for something OTT.

(edit: BBC now saying less)

Saivet I'll wait to see. Judging on stats it's a better midfield than the dreadful pair of Anita and Colback.

Considering he has about 4 caps, mostly substitute appearances in friendlies, I think it's a stretch to call him an England international.

Tiote, Colback and Anita have been worth about 1 midfielder between them all season. Dire every one of them.

Good game all round, that's what happens to utd defence when they attack.

Satisfying to be on the right end of a late goal for once. Hoping we can get a win or two in our next 4 games.

Also, where the fuck did that Villa win come from?

3 seasons running he was a 1 in 2 striker. Is he out of form? Being played in a different role? Not getting any service?

he's not getting the service, because his style doesn't suit how the team play.... tho even so, his score rate hasn't dropped hugely.

It's a problem that plenty identified as a possible problem before the transfer happened, so I'm not surprised to see it - tho he was apparently a Rodgers choice and not something from 'the transfer committee'. He might have noticed how the not-dissimilar style of Balotelli didn't work either. ;)

Well we can't rely on Sturridge either and even if Sturridge does play again which he will, if he gets injured i think Klopp will want to get rid. We need someone this window but its hard to find someone who will fit the style and who we can afford etc. Either way we need some sort of goal scorer or top 4 will probably be out of sight for us.. I'm not expecting much this season.

I'm sure Swansea and Shelvey's agent were calling him an England international when the deal was on.

He’s just not very clever, doesn’t suit a team quick attacking football and makes everyone around him look worse. Talented enough with the ball though and he’s scored some important goals for us so what he’s good at hasn’t really diminished.

Oddly he was one of Liverpool's better players on Friday despite being clearly un-match-fit, and played out of position as well.

Mind you, that wasn't a hard achievement to make in that match.

He was dreadful, felt sorry for Illori getting stick having to play next to him.

Apparently Henderson, Sakho and Ibe are all back tonight, so it could be pretty much full strength apart from missing Coutinho (no idea who our second best centre back is when all of them are fit anyway, and Sturridge isn’t worth counting at this point (please be back for Sunday though, like)).

I really fear for Swansea now.  Now Sunderland have closed the point gap an Alladyce led Sunderland seems a much safer bet than Swansea under Curtis.

Yeah I agree. At the moment I'm thinking Bournemouth, Swansea and Villa for the bottom three, I reckon Sunderland will stay up and Newcastle will have enough about them to pick up a few big results over the rest of the season which should be enough for them. It'll be tight though, especially if Aston Villa can kick on after their win against Palace as although I don't think there's any chance of them staying up a couple of wins against the teams around them would make things interesting.

    • Interesting to read. It's mostly why we stopped going a few years back even though it's the nearest big festival to home. The post-exams timing and location makes it a rites of passage first festival for people in a big area. Understandably that leads to a bit of giddiness. Think lineup would need to be a lot more my cup of tea to be enticed back. Friends who are there are having a good time tho and no rain is a good thing for up there.
    • I honestly didn't know it had, I still thought it was where the view overlooked the lake and view.   I think my decision not to attend this year at least was justified. Biffy was the big draw but after Finsbury I knew they wouldn't play what I want to hear again and well work also got in the way. Believed interesting to hear if Libertines were any good as they were also a pull but Sunday did nothing for me really with all my acts on Friday and Saturday.
