Completely Gillespied

It's the little things.

'Do you wanna hear Basement Jaxx?'

*Crowd cheers*

'We're gonna play another one just to fuck ya off'

Mani playing the bassline for 'I Want You Back' in the background whilst all this shit is going on is great too!

The bad: Last year on the Saturday i decided to start drinking red wine at 12pm when going to see Four Tet up at the Park somewhere. I continued to drink red wine all day so by the time it came to Jack White/Metallica i could barely stand - i'm pretty sure the people in the crowd around me were the only thing holding me up, and i barely remember any of Metallica, but the really bad part came the next day when i woke with the worst hangover i've ever had, but...

The good: after suffering with an atrocious hangover all day and because of this, not drinking all day, by the time i went to see Bonobo/Disclosure it had pretty much gone, so i decided it was time for some drugs. Took a pill whilst watching Disclosure - nothing happened. Took another - nothing happened. And another. And then another. Thinking 'shit the previous days of drug taking have fucked my serotonin right up' i turned away from the flashing lights of the stage to go for a piss and realised i was more wired than i'd ever been in my life, and the strobing lights had distracted me from this. Had a moment to myself later that night, sitting in some random bar, watching all my friends dance away, that can only be described as pure ecstasy, which was made even better considering nine hours prior i'd been dry heaving constantly in the Pyramid field whilst The 1975 played on the stage

Ah, the 1975, such an easy kicking boy :D

I do genuinely think they're shit though.  Not just because it's cool to hate them on here.  I would rather listen to Bastille, something I do not say lightly!

I don't I've ever heard a song by the 1975 in my life and I'd like to keep it that way

whoa now. now i hate The 1975, but more than Bastille? really!? i think The 1975 are definitely the lesser of two evils there (although not by much)

Took me Feckin ages to read that lot :) , great thread.

Good: Faithless into Stevie wonder in 2010 after a cracking festival with great weather ending in one of my music heroes, I was Gillespied but in a good way.

Bad: need I not mention the last two Wednesdays I've had at the festival, one , 2013 started with no food, tiredness, and 4 pints of Brothers and ended face down outside tent, the other at the Efests meet staggering home , tripping up on guy ropes and braking spectacles , also in 2009 my first year and the end of my drug use days I though I'd give it one last hurrah with an E and some pro plus, I don't remember the SE corner much but do remember the head ache and sweats I had in the morning sitting on the floor of the JP tent to the side of the stage at 12am, my god that base. I had to retire back to the tent or should I say sauna for 4 hours to sweat it out.

It's all about that bass.

There has been a fair few moments of being Gillespied at Glastonbury but these are the most memorable.

Best - Did a bar crawl which ended up with us back at our tents in the early hours discussing wrestling (as you do). We got onto an argument as to who would be the best wrestler. I maintained it would be me as I could 'sell' the moves the best. No one believed me so I got my mate to chockslam me through our camping table.

The table split perfectly and I won the argument.

Worst #1 - In 2004 we had somehow been invited into one of the tipis by some lovely hippy folk. There was a girl singing very delicate harmonies around a fire in the middle. It was a lovely moment. I however had been on the ol' bag of wine and had drunk quite a bit of whisky and started to feel a bit queasy. Suddenly I knew I was going to be sick but couldn't get out of the tipi in time. Not wanting to throw up all over the tipi that these people had kindly invited us into, I decided to try to disguise my vomit by chundering down and into the jumper I was wearing and slowly easing out of the tipi with the contents of my stomach soaked and pooled in said jumper. Pretty horrible stuff.

Worst #2 - Jay Z - I somehow managed to drink a whole bottle of whisky mixed with minimal ginger ale during his set. After the gig we headed to The Park where we watched a dj in what could have been the Stonebridge. Needing a piss I left the tent with my mates and ex in. I think I made it to the toilets, however my ex said that she came to look for me and found me halfway up the park field, passed out in the middle with my trousers undone and my cock out. Classy.

All in all. I think Bobby would be proud.

Me and the wife are giggling out heads off at this, quality stuff

    • Really well done, Primavera. Maybe the biggest name on the lineup as a surprise. (Ecpecially if Robert joins this)
    • There's one way it can get bigger- if Robert Smith joins her on stage
