If you have asked someone to move so you can squeeze past, don't stay in the space they've made as they are probably now squashed. If you do insist on staying there, don't look around and give dirty looks because they're touching you or accidentally knocking you while dancing or whatever.

Also, don't do stuff you wouldn't do to your mother - don't hurt anyone, piss on anyone or give any kind of unwanted attention to anyone else.

Easy peasy really.

It's a gig - people move for all sorts of reasons - the more you let them move the better.

Would agree with this. Unless you're standing right at the front of the gig, there almost certainly will be space somewhere in front of you, and I really don't see any issue with people moving through the crowd to get closer to the front and to occupy unoccupied areas.

Moving in a crowd happens, deal with it. Only time in all the sets at Glastonbury it was a struggle to move in a crowd was at the Stones. We had a decent spot near the camera tent in front of the stage, I went for a piss half an hour before and it took ages to get back to where I started.

One thing that is annoying, is people sitting on the floor and spreading out in a big crowd in between bands. Stand up or get to the back.

Talking during gigs.

Being 6' 8" tall I try to get there as the previous band have just finished

and then anyone who stands behind me is either very tall or doesn't want to see

Were you watching Car Power in the Park a couple of years ago?

If you're tall don't rock up just as the band start and stand in front of the shortest person there. I spend ages getting myself into a decent position so I can see the stage for someone over 6 foot to just appear in front of me. I'm 5'3 gis a break!

I nearly had a fight with someone at the Radiohead gig at Finsbury park about his. Stood for hours through support band etc only for this tall lad to appear just before the band came on and stand right in front of me ( the cheek :) ), we were very near the front mind, seems stupid now I think of it as it's happened a lot since but at the time it really annoyed me, I had to have a few words with him :)

the ones that really annoy me in crowds are the picnic blanket lot or chair people!

Each year I work my way into the 'pit' at the front of Pyramid in particular to see someone and encounter hoardes of chairs and picnic people sitting there..... taking up so much space its untrue! Then they either all stand up at once when the act comes on leading to a bit of jockeying and shoving, or they refuse and stay seated then get angry at you if you end up trying to dance about next to them!

People on shoulders are just as annoying as tall people coming and standing right in front of you.

Oh and throwing stuff, if you can't drink a full pint then lose it some other way.

It's simple.  When you have arrived at the spot where you plan to stand (or sit if you are at the back in a chair) turn round, check the people behind you and ask if they can still see OK.  If they can't, try to adjust your position so they still can see.

I'm with kalifire that you have to just relax in crowds. I tend not to get annoyed by tall people - it isn't they thought of annoying people shorter than them. They can't help being tall. People arriving late isn't an issue either - just be polite and don't push!

If a moshpit starts, punch people from the edges because you don't like what they're doing.

If you're tall, find a small girl/lad who's just found herself a good spot to view the stage and stand right in front of here.

Whatever you do, don't ask people if you can move past them if you're late and you're trying to get to the front, just shove them out of the way.

If you're strong, be sure to treat the crowd as if it was a scrum.

Don't drink your beer, just throw it forward. People love to be drenched in its amber goodness.

Don't go to the toilet if you need the loo and don't use a bottle which you'll keep on you. Find a cup, do yer business and launch your inside stuff. Bonus points if you ruin someone's experience by drowning them in it.

Do you weigh over 12 stone? Are you wearing heavy, muddy wellies?  Try crowdsurfing. People's necks love it.

Light a flare, as you'll never get into any trouble for doing so. If you're spotted by a security guard, you can simply drop the thing on the floor while still lit.

If you light up a fag, don't forget to blow all the smoke into other people's faces. Better in their lungs than in the air right?

Please remind us all of how Manchester is wonderful and full of tits when my favourite Patti Smith song is on.

I love to watch shows through other people's ipads so if you're holding them aloft in front of me, you're doing me a massive favour.

Forget about your limits with drugs. Having someone hold onto me to stop themselves from falling and drooling down my back is all part of the festival experience. I love having to inform their mates that they're a mess and need looking after.

Plonk your 3 pieceb suite down in the front circle.

Im not too bothered by people on shoulders. They generally cant stay on them for too long and it give the vertically challenged the opposite to see the stage for a bit instead of someones sweaty back.

My only real issue is people who talk all the way through the set of the band on before the one they are getting their spaces to watch.....it's worse in a tent venue as their sound carries.

People who chatter all the way through gigs are probably my number one dislike

Rule number one:

Never ever talk loudly during a folk band as folk fans get very hissy about this. I've been to a few folk festivals and when people talk they can get a rather stern talking to by the hardcore folk lot.

Never mix fucked with folk, it always ends badly.

My main annoyance in the crowds are the people crammed in on the edge, refusing to let you back through after a toilet stop claiming there is no space, even though you know there is plenty of space.  And then when you manage to wriggle your way through the 10 rows of sardines you trip over the row of chairs which is causing the crush in the first place.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
