looking at fence progress we should get them meeting tomorrow or sat .... that Park stage is a little behind previous so needs a bit of a push ... although id imagine thats because of the number of cranes they have on site

Park is behind but then Pyramid is way ahead so guess its all swings and roundabouts.

Reckon we'll see the Park stage go up today, Other tomorrow.

Crane is there now at Park.

Didn't T'Other stage go up then down then back up again one year?

I'm dying to see this too. Reckon if they do have any they won't release it until after the festival though.

I wonder if it was a done a bit agriculturally given it was literally hauled down in space of a few minutes. Maybe not the sort of video HSE would like..

Haha yes it did! Can’t remember what year but do remember the utter confusion here.

I thought other went up last minute?  Don’t they put all of the lighting rigs on before they put it up?

Suppose they might put it up to test and then drop it to fix lighting etc.

It went up within days of the tall beams being built in 2019, but then came down again so <shrugs emoji>

Yep that's exactly it.

That type of stage design is intended that they can do most of the rigging at ground(ish) level, without needing to use cranes. So if the roof does go up in the next few days, it'll be more of a surprise if it doesn't subsequently come down before the festival.

PA and lighting only comes on site on the week for the festival, I would say the roof will go up once the ornament is attached, so 2 weeks out (at a guess)

I remember watching them rigging lights at stage level in 2019 when I was on site.  Roof was definitely up but the lighting rig was lowered.

    • Its just going to be another dementia tax isn't it? The issue is this is going to be seen as a continuation of the labour government that have already raised taxes 1000% above manifesto promises.
    • One thing that Burnham has been talking about is scrapping inheritance tax and replace it with a social care levy ... which would be less progressive, but might be a good idea if was a solution for the social care crisis. Would need to sell it well to a public who would prefer not to pay more tax.
    • Maybe you should put your name forward to be Burnham's chancellor.
    • But I think the point of that Dan Needle tax thing...we need to put up income tax, for all incomes (and thresholds should be unfrozen).
    • There are no easy answers...more than anything we need growth...and probably main ways of getting that is borrowing more to invest in stuff that makes us super sexy, and/or cut taxes on business and wealth generation which would mean less money to spend on public services and welfare and would obviously be super unpopular and get you chucked out of govt. On top of all that got an aging population, a growing welfare bill, a call for higher spending on defence, housing inequality, higher borrowing costs, and probably a load more sh*t on the way due to the Iran war (although so far it hasn't been that bad?)
