I have always wanted to be there on a day like today a couple of days before gates open, just to see how all the build is finally put together and how all the traders squeeze into their pitches, I would find it fascinating. The logistics of getting everything/everyone in the right place so soon before doors open must be immense. Fair play to them, in a couple of days they will be where they need to be and ready for the carnage to follow!

Me too.  I’d love to volunteer on the build just to experience it, but then do the fest as normal without worrying about shifts.

Looking absolutely glorious on the webcam right now.  Hope everyone has a fantastic festival, wishing I was there.  Saw my son off earlier when he came to collect his ticket and some camping stuff, felt really weird to not be going.

Volunteer you will never go back. I love volunteering after 13 years as a punter. Last 2 days on site have been fab. When you lot get in it ruins it ha ha

We camped right at the very top of South Park in 2013, it levels out a bit at the top towards the fence, view is fantastic to start/end your day with.

Does it fill up in there, or is it always pretty spacious?

Doesn't look right flat at top to me 🙂

Basically it flattens out a little right at the very top where the fence line is, only a few feet and only marginally flatter.  I only camped there one year, but it was quite a popular location that year, certainly more full than Darble usually is, not as full as more central locations.  We had 3 tents, nice open space between them for a bbq and a chill, neighbours were decent, just a trek back up that hill (particularly if it's a bit soggy and slippy) was a pain in the arse, there weren't enough toilets for the number of people using them so constant queues that were mental in the mornings.

I've always thought these pitches would be awfully sloped and uncomfortable (yellow)

Then look at your mans pitch all alone right at the very top LOL (Blue)

Thought that was a crew field as it's usually quiet, that's where I'd end up if I make it down sometime the extra hoof up the hill would be traded off for a quiet night's sleep until some bugger jumping the fence lands on top of you.

I have said it before in this very thread... But my word watching that place being taken apart is bloody depressing!

Almost wish they turned the camera off on Sunday night and then turned it back on the April before a festival so we can watch the place being built..

I know what you mean- but it returning to nature is nice too.  The big gaps in the fence now let you wildlife move about freely
