Block9 is one of Glastonbury’s legendary destinations for dance music aficionados. A 24-hour wonderland of heavyweight sound systems, underground nightclubs, huge artworks and extremely alternative performance, Block9 is home to three jaw-dropping installations: Genosys, NYC Downlow and London Underground.

CERRONE MAKES GLASTONBURY DEBUT AT BLOCK9

Making his Glastonbury debut at Block9 is superstar producer, drummer, composer, multi-award winner and disco legend extraordinaire, CERRONE.

Considered to be one of the most influential disco producers of the 70s and 80s in Europe, Cerrone has sold over 30 million records worldwide, including over eight million copies of his hit album Supernature (1977).

Cerrone will be performing live at Block9′s official opening party at Genosys, on Thursday 25th June at 21:30. Get there early if you don’t want to miss one of Glastonbury’s biggest opening events!

OPEN ALL HOURS

Traditionally opening when night falls, this year Block9 will be throwing open the gates early at 4pm every day from Friday onwards, so they can squeeze 12 more hours of amazing dance acts into their stellar line-up.

MORE TOP TALENT THAN EVER

This year watch out for:

GENOSYS: CERRONE, ROBERT HOOD, SVEN VON THULEN PHUTURE (LIVE), AWESOME TAPES FROM AFRICA, PROSUMER and MR G (LIVE), EROL ALKAN, MARK E

NYC DOWNLOW: JOE CLAUSSELL, HONEY DIJON, DJ PIERRE, POINT G, ANDY BUTLER (HERCULES & LOVE AFFAIR), DJ PIERRE, DUNGEON MEAT, GREG BELSON, HORSE MEAT DISCO, TAMA SUMO, GIDEON, EATS EVERYTHING

LONDON UNDERGROUND: JAH SHAKA, LOEFAH, YOUNGSTA, FABIO, FLIGHT, MARCUS INTALEX, MELLA DEE

Loefah & youngsta some quality dub in there :)

Loefah doesn't really play dub anymore. But the stuff he is playing is fucking awesome. Such a good Dj.

Mella Dee is a good producer as well. Pioneering that whole industrial house/techno sound with big jungle influences.

Boring... the whole SE corner needs a shake up.

Too damn right - obvious from the hyperbole:

"A 24-hour wonderland of heavyweight sound systems, underground nightclubs, huge artworks and extremely alternative performance"

So one outdoor stage, one indoor stage and a pastiche of a gay nightclub with *gasp* trannies you mean? Extremely open only for 12-14 hours of that 24 hours you mentioned?

I am being cruel but they're asking for it dressing it up like it's the promised land. Shangri-la learnt that from LV's nosedive, the common shook itself up, B9 need to do the same I reckon

Agree that as a concept its not changed that much. A new stage would be nice. Saying that the production is amazing and I love getting twisted around there

    • Boards of Canada never perform live, I doubt they'll start now. Also Strokes have a show in Barcelona next tour so also less likely.   And adding Nine Inch Noize to the mix And we should definitely get Iggy Pop back before his body completlt dismantles
    • Starmer wagging his finger with a stern warning again. The media are briefed they'll  ban social media for under 16s then he stands up and makes an empty threat on nude images. Why does he keep doing this?
    • My top 5:   1. Little Simz (her appearance with Gorillaz was also one of the highlights of their show. The absolute winner of the weekend) 2. Cure 3. Rilo Kiley 4. Gorillaz. A bit disappointing set for me, compared to last time. Felt like a bad setlist, whenever things started to heat up, they did some new calmer song 5. Florance Road. The good thing thay came out of the rain is being able to see them
    • So since Andy Copping has stepped down and this new booker has taken over, we’ve had Green Day (who Andy never managed to book) and now potentially Blink 182 (another Andy never got done) is this just coincidence or do you think Andy never actually pushed hard for these bands?
    • After three cancelations in a row  I'm not sure if we should just give up, or chear up cause we got so much closer this time
