It was metaphorical and literal - they had such a buzz about them, but also had an actual suntan.  1995 was one of the hot ones.

Yeah, I caught up with an old friend from school and it was the only one he ever attended, he was ill prepared for the conditions and was a casualty by Saturday, missed loads of shifts and fell out with his flatmate which led to him living in a caravan in wales thereafter.  Strangely he has no interest in returning.  Shame, he'd love the place

However, Radiohead could well be in the mix somehow too, which seems to either suggest Adele isn't doing it, or, from some info that came my way (which sounds like it's wrong but is also a weird thing for someone to have said if it's not) Muse might not be headlining.

Of those two I'd say Adele not doing it is the most likely, and yet I'm finding it very hard to go with the idea that she's not given a few bits of background info I've had plus some other bits and pieces.

Coldplay are shit but the fact is they have contributed a massive amount to the festival. It's easy to forget because of the way its viewed now, but in the early 2000's, the festival was viewed in a very negative light, locally and nationally. There was a real danger the festival would go for good, it was refused licences and Michael was barred from being involved on his own. Coldplay along with Melvin Benn and others were one of the only reasons the festival was given a licence from that point on. That's in addition to them donating their fee previously, and the work they do with festival's charities. 

 

They're shit but theyve done enough for the festival to headline every four or five years if they want.

I sat in on those licence hearings. There was not a word of Coldplay mentioned, ever.

So basically Muse are going to ruin the party.

I'd prefer Radiohead - Friday and Adele - Saturday (Personal opinion)

Have you had any more recent news about Adele doing it? Thought maybe that could be the one that's potentially fallen through if it has gone quiet.

that's in 2004. They'd been two festivals granted a licence since the problems in 2000.

Plus of course someone saying "I like it" or "I don't like it" has absolutely fuck all relevance to the licencing process.

The festival got a licence *ONLY* on the basis that it was suitable to have a licence, and that's absolutely fuck all to do with anything to do with Chris Martin.

you are joking?!! Look at how many times The Killers have headlined V in short period - 2007, 2009, 2012 & 2014,

KOL (2010, 2013) and Kasaiban (2010, 2015) not far off too either

This may be a bit out there, but is it possible there are 4 headliners?

The festival officially starts on the Wednesday, so is it ridiculous to think that there could be a down-sized line-up on the Thursday, starting in the late afternoon? Rock Werchter does it.

It would solve the Muse / Radiohead / Adele conundrum.
