Made two litres of rhubarb and custard vodka and a litre of werthers originals vodka last year after both being recommended by this forum.

The werthers originals stuff was absolutely revolting. The taste of it almost made me sick. And after a night in a hot tent it would separate and look like beige curdled milk. A quick shake up fixed this, but just looking at it made me feel ill.

The rhubard and custard one was alright so I'll do that again with a couple of crates and some boxed wine.

There seems to be a fair bit of talk about warm beer or cider. Can you not purchase bags of ice on site anywhere?

I heard you could but they wanted £10?!

due to equipment having to be rented for at least two weeks if there is ice on sale it will be expensive due to the hire cost - delivery charge etc etc of fridge trucks which don't come cheap

I heard something on another thread about dishwasher vodka - dissolving sweets into it by putting it in at a 70 degree cycle.

Anyone had any experience/success with this? Favoured flavours?

I think we spoke... My Mars bar voddy was great. Really strong so mixed it 50:50 with single cream. Nearly all gone now so making more this weekend. Edited by Waapster

An on going anger for me is that they don't sell Thatchers Gold in 24 can slabs.

What's wrong with the world?

Definitely with you on this Joey T, Tesco only do 10 packs and they are £9 a pop. Will probably take a couple of these and the rest is Strongbow, much cheaper as you can get it for around 50p a can.

LIES! Werthers original vodka is a brilliant drink, surely it looks like shit...but once you've drunk enough you won't mind!

Maybe you need more vodka, less werthers in your mix? :P

Maybe, but I can't even bring myself to look at that stuff ever again, so I guess I'll never know :P

Jeffie's mates bring a few flavours, cherry, lemon, werthers in vodka. All good. Unless you have a medical fetish and love swigging listerine, I can recommend staying away from extra strong mint vodka.

Trying to buy a bottle of tonic on site the year before last was an experience I'll not forget in a hurry. My wife runs on gin and tonics so it was essential we found some. I can't remember what happened in the end - thanks to group therapy. Talking of which is it alright if I sing this song out to you?

Kum ba yah, my Lord, Kum ba yah!
Kum ba yah, my Lord, Kum ba yah!
Kum ba yah, my Lord, Kum ba yah!
Oh Lord! Kum ba yah!

Hear me crying, Lord, Kum ba yah!
Hear me crying, Lord, Kum ba yah!
Hear me crying, Lord, Kum ba yah!
Oh Lord! Kum ba yah!

Hear me singing, Lord, Kum ba yah!
Hear me singing, Lord, Kum ba yah!
Hear me singing, Lord, Kum ba yah!
Oh Lord! Kum ba yah!

Hear me praying, Lord, Kum ba yah!
Hear me praying, Lord, Kum ba yah!
Hear me praying, Lord, Kum ba yah!
Oh Lord! Kum ba yah!

Oh I need you, Lord, Kum ba yah!
Oh I need you, Lord, Kum ba yah!
Oh I need you, Lord, Kum ba yah!
Oh Lord! Kum ba yah!

Thanks. I like to think we all got something from that.

I'll be taking 5 bottles of vodka all infused differently. Then they can be drunk straigh as opposed to having to mess about with mixers.

Chilli and honey (make sure you split the chilli to release the heat)

skittles

Pear drops

Cola cubes

And maybe rhubarb custards

I'll also take a slab of cider tbc to drink upon waking each morning.

Jiffy you don't need to put the sweeties vodka in a washing machine.

Just decant the vodka into plastic of course and drop a few sweets into it. Leave it for a day or two giving it an occasional shake and the sweets simply dissolve.

I find that vodka is alot easier to take as you have more options for mixers, i tend to take vodka and mix it with cranberry juice which has always served me well. Not a rum fan so i cant really offer any suggestions for mixers

I'm tempted to take vodka and cranberry, and if i fancy any other mixer I can just buy it there. Cranberry will be pretty hard to get hold of at the ice cream vans though! Do you take your own or pre mix it? Getting cranberry juice all over my bag would be a nightmare

It really would! I just pre mix, i use empty bottles of squash i find theyre the perfect size as not too big to hold and drink from but you can get a hefty amount in to last you a day out and about on site. And always tastes fine for the duration of the festival.
