The hail of bottles at the start was a lot of fun dodging, both for snappers like me and for the band.

Charlie just kept on playing, and while their style wasn't my thing they put in a more-than-decent performance, better than plenty of other 'big' bands I saw that weekend.

He said he'd never go back to Busted, but I guess the wonga gets ever more tempting if a new project doesn't make the big time.

i think he has a kid on the way/just had a kid so i guess those megabucks were just too tempting when he 'needed' them most. fair play to him - he quit because he thought the music was silly, but like most people, you grow up and realise there isn't really anything wrong with liking simple pop music

as for Fightstar, i absolutely love them. have no shame in admitting their latest album was one of my top 10 of last year!

20 years since Mosley shoals was released and they are playing in July with support from shed seven and the bluetones. Would be very happy with a few ciders and singing along with ocean colour scene to start the festival

Wouldn't that put the audience in the position of 'Special Guests' attending a performance that would otherwise be happening on the Avalon Stage?

While we're on about comebacks.. I mean they were never big and won't open the other (but I always thought they were one of the better MOtR indie bands), but hopefully Milburn pop up somewhere.

I have never seen a finer example of that than the infamous Drenge b2b Wolf Alice this year, I went along with a mate that was there and couldn't get anywhere near the tent at all.

I did get a lovely steak ciabatta though with the most potent garlic mayonnaise I've ever had, it was worth it for sure
