Nice to see some love in here for Dry The River. Matt has some new material coming soon - check out waylorland.com

I got some news from him t'other day that suggests no Glastonbury this year, but could be wrong.

To stay on topic, I was in my tent and it started throwing it down so decided to maintain shelter for a while. Had a nap, woke up and I'd missed Robert Plant. So disappointed in myself.

Been pretty obsessed with Dry The River since a few months before Shallow Bed came out. Without doubt one of the finest debut albums of the in the last 15 years for me. The way the album builds to the run of final 7 songs starting from 'Demons' through to 'Family' is pure perfection. I always described them to people as the missing link between the harmony drenched folk of Fleet Foxes and the big orchestral crescendos of Funeral-era Arcade Fire. Lost a lot of the folky elements on their second but still brilliant stuff. Must have seen them a dozen times over the last 4 years. Shame they may not be back this year as I know they love it at GF and tend to spend the whole weekend there.

We almost missed Robert Plant too as we had a nap after we had worked the morning shift on recycling crew. We woke up to hear Robert Plant playing Black Dog and managed to get ourselves ready and down to the Pyramid just in time for 'What is and what should never be', My mate sparked a fat one and we saw 'Whole Lotta Love' and 'Rock and Roll' just as the sun was starting to go down behind the Pyramid. It was glorious.

At Reading 2010, I had yet to get into LCD Soundsystem and went to see Marina and the Diamonds instead... Really enjoyed her set actually, but James Murphy called it quits on LCD soon after, just as I became a big fan, which was pretty gutting.

Not even the first in the thread to say this, utterly baffling.

Thom I feel so sad for you right now. All were awesome. Orbital was the best Eva!!! The rest were brilliant too. 2010 was my first year. Fooking brilliant.

I was so bad at the time I was delusional. I even had thoughts of never returning to Worthy farm! Crazy, I know! But thats sun stroke!.....Next time I was there was even less that a year later on my Honeymoon.....

Watching the football instead of Slash and Ray Davies still gives me nightmares

The Slash set was one of the best I've ever seen at Glastonbury.Perfect rock and roll with the best rock vocalist out there. Sorry to rub it in

That's the thing about Glastonbury - there's so much gong on - The festival you miss is better than the one you see - then there's the context of what you are up to in each moment. Just enjoy what you see and don't worry about what you've missed - if you didn't see it, it didn't happen.

Having a decade between Glastos, I looked at the lineup for 2004 and was like - 'what the fuck was I doing' but then going back last year it all made sense again...

I saw Cee-Lo Green over Primal Scream doing Screamadelica.

I also missed The National, and as far as I can tell from looking at a Clashfinder, I was doing absolutely nothing.

I was a fan of both The National and Primal Scream at the time and can't remember what the fuck I was thinking.

This is why I cant have the weather like it was in 2010. The day times were right offs. It was my least enjoyable glastonbury due to the heat. I was sat at my tent listening to the national, just trying to get some shade.

Sunday, I thought - sod it. Last day, I'll be out. I stayed at the Pyramid all day. Only time Ive ever done that. It was a great afternoon / evening. (Bar Jack Johnson)

I spent over an hour listening to the Hari Krishnas chanting because I had found one of the few shady spots by the tent next door. There was no-one I particularly wanted to see, but that wasn't great either.

If you could survive the heat during the day in 2010, the evenings/sunsets were bloody brilliant - best time of the day at the festival for me.

It was like that on the Wednesday of 2014, was great sitting on the grass near the Brothers Bar as the sun set. Oh how it all went wrong

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
