You say this like it's a surprise.

I thought it got enough "wow, this is actually really good" comments elsewhere for me to put feelers out, see what the consensus is here. And it's not like he hasn't made a massive banger before.

Half way through the (v. long) new Miley Cyrus album and it's mostly really good so far. Credit for that goes largely to The Flaming Lips who co-wrote and produced most of it but yeah, check it out.

Great news, I've always liked MIley Cyrus, been saying for ages she just needs some good songwriters and producers to get off the ground. She's produced a handful of good singles up to this point, but all of her albums up to now have ranged from passable to poor.

half way through that new Miley album now and it's bloody brilliant. like LAWN said, she has a slew of great singles but the albums have never really done it, and although this obviously doesn't have the commercial appeal of her previous releases, it's a big step in an (unexpected) great direction. as i said, only half way through thus far, so hope the other half can keep up the quality

Good news, good news indeed.

It's awesome, 'Bad Habits' is probably my favourite off it. Nice progression from the first album for sure.

Yeah I totally agree. I prefer it actually. It's a little more mature without being boring or anything, which is pretty much what I needed from it. Stupid Decisions is probably my standout.

I actually thought it was more immature. I loved their EPs and liked the first album but they seem to have gone from garage-punk with lyrics about drink and drugs to a kind of emo-punk with lyrics that sound like they're lifted from a teenage girl's twitter account. I only got 3 songs in, thought it was terrible.

You switched off after three songs; two of which were singles before the album?

    • Attended a gig at Piece Hall for the first time on Saturday (Opeth), the music was excellent. Just a couple of points on the organisation & the event itself. - Getting through the gates seemed to take longer than required. I was at the South gate about 30 mins before stated start time and still missed first half of Katatonia. - Coffee stall was serving cold coffee later on. - Lots of the crowd seemed to be more interested in chatting than listening to the music. Doubly annoying when sound levels for Opeth seemed quieter than Paradise Lost, is this usual for the venue due to curfew etc? Luckily there was enough room so I could move close to the front of the crowd and couldn't hear drunken chatter anymore 🙂
    • Tickets will just be sent out via email; going out next Monday 10th August apparently.
    • That's how I'd see it, either or, 3 BST rules her out.
    • Surely the chances of Madonna doing three+ nights at BST and also Glastonbury is pretty low? I know Elton did (2?) nights at BST but it seems like it’s one or the other at this point?   A shame. I think she would be absolutely brilliant - plus, unfortunately, given that she isn’t as able as she was means this could be a now or never situation?
    • All of these were published in July of their respective year. Appreciate the festival is a little later than normal but it must surely be live in the next 48 hours? The first events start in five days! 🤣
