Fucking hell, is there no end to second rate bands from my youth reforming as middle aged, ravaged overweight men chasing a few quid to pay the mortgage. Knock it on the head, eh? Stop pissing on my memories and grave-fucking my record collection.

I'm so very relieved that my favourite band from that era, Flowered Up, can never go down this route.

I'm a bit surprised that they're suddenly a headlining proposition. It's not like there was any great demand for the reunion or that their discography has grown in stature or popularity in their absence.

Nostalgia, really. Look at slowdive last year. Who's got the money to pay for gig tickets? people in their late 30s early 40s.

Mind it could be worse have you seen that PWEI, Jesus Jones and the Wonderstuff are doing a joint tour this winter. A terrifying prospect

I think it has. Even a few months before the Beady Eye split, I started hearing people talk about Ride, something I hadn't heard in years. All of a sudden people are listening to them again.

I never liked them though, all a bit wishy for my tastes. More a band of my brother's.

You say headline but last year it was headlined by Metronomy and Pixies. Park headliner and 2nd top-Other.

I am surprised they've been booked though, Pixies have much more of a legendary reputation to people my age (Field Day's demographic) than Ride do. Nobody really talks about Ride. I have their debut on my iPod but I've only listened to it a couple of times.

Excuse me! I won't have a word said against the poppies and Jesus Jones (my first gig at the town and country Kentish town).

And yet now you've got them listed as a rumour, and specifically for Other ??

...I rumoured them, and he's saying he may be wrong.

Someone said very specifically:

"Sounds like Neils hinting they may be at glastonbury."

I wasn't. I was hinting that i knew what was about to be announced.

Great setlist at Oxford - i.e. only one song from the last two albums!

I guess that's true although I was disappointed not to hear Birdman as it's a great song, and while I like Black Nite Crash it sounded really out of place against the rest of the set list, almost like a different band (as I'm sure many will say Tarantula as a whole was).

No Kaleidoscope either :(

Aside from that minor quibble they were really really good. Seagull and Drive Blind are two of my favourites and they nailed them.

    • Consider that the sound quality can be better near the front bars right behind the soundbooth rather than closer to the stage, like with mbv. And of course, the front sections are full of talkers too.   The most courteous move would be to have conversations in the very back of the field.
    • I mean...I do think it all needs more regulation, but god knows how when it's all so global...but there's so much stuff on there that is messing with our little minds. But also, he has given these companies till September, and well...he'll surely be gone by then. I think social media ban for under 16s will likely happen, but I think regulating it for everyone is better. It's the not the kids we should be worried about, it's all those middle aged doom scrolling keyboard warriors like me.
    • I agree the prices are tough for locals. You can see if Porto timetable is the type that works for you and it's a terrific city. Also cheaper. https://www.primaverasound.com/es/porto/lineup-porto
    • thanks XXialac! i guess for us the most important aspect will be a festival that starts very late in the day, specially in these southern countries were it can be really hot! The combination of visiting a new city, having good lunches and enjoying a festival is a absolute must for us. Also, we like headliners but the undercard is just as important; truly enjoyed Men I trust, NewDad, Big Thief this year so from that angle it is not really a big thing if a festival is somewhat smaller.    Apparently my bad, i had 5 in my system but 0.5 (10%) increase is still huge. I am not sure how teenagers can afford these prices............
