I'm not showing this as an explanation to anything, but talk of the old tipi field reminded me of this old pic. Yours truly in said field in 2000. Note the daft hat and two litre bottle of cider, de rigeur in days of yore.

I'd like to make a complaint under the trade descriptions act. I accept that was taken 14 years ago, and perhaps things change, but you're not fat, and you're definitely not a yeti!

The compost toilets are particularly good - helped in no small part by the fact that inexplicably, no bugger will use them.

I keep forgetting to take compost in with me and there seem to be plenty other people that are equally stupid so for me they are not always the best. If idiots like me would remember how to use them properly though they'd be quite good.

I don't have that problem so much as forgetting to NOT throw the cup in afterwards.

Though I did give the evil eye to a hipster girl who was too posh to scoop up some compost to take in this year.

ah, you're on a sticky wicket there, you'd have to prove what a yeti looks like. Given that fatyeti24 is 8 feet tall, a potential missing link and exceptionally strong, I'm not going to do anything to rile him.....

I often found there were no cups to scoop with and didn't always have one with me.

Are you supposed to put compost after both "kinds"? Or just number two?

No idea. You probably should use a urinal or sheepee for pissing surely?

Wait... sheepees have cubicles? :banghead:

I'm not sure what this means - could you explain?

It used to be just full of people who were characters, those who lived in tipis, the sweat lodge was the main part of it for me - now it's also full of families with children called Xanthe, Jasper, Constance, and the like, who aren't there most of the day and it's quieter and less 'lived in' these days. I guess that's what I mean - that seemed to change when it moved out of it's old home - it also seems to now rarely attract people with daft hats and two litre bottles of cider. And I hate to say it but compare the crowd in and around the Bimble Inn at say Beautiful Days to those at Glastonbury - and it shows that it's a different world now.

Isn't that just the rent a tipi bit? You've got the actual tipi dewellers to the right of it, just by the Stone Circle entrace? (Actually I think we've sort of had this dicussion before :P)

Maybe she was only doing a number 1? I think compost is only required for number 2s, according to signage.

we have - and I still say the tipi dwellers aren't all tipi dwellers like they were back in the day

You're quite right - they started renting a few out as early as '04 or '05

I think 5co77ie said it pretty well. There is another change - the crowd is much er... 'better off'. The swathes of luxury camping options have attracted much of the crowd that used to sneer at festivals and with them has come more mindlessness - much more chatting while acts are on in crowds and a bit less friendly tbh

Plus there are no longer fires in the pyramid field. Very strange that just flipped off in the past few years

    • Very probable. I was a bit surprised by the crowd I saw in the video they drew, and I say that as a big feeder fan. I thought they’d draw a really good sized crowd but it looked rows deep. Chuffed for them though. Still think they’re a great band after all these years.  Rumours at they’re doing a Polythene tour next year too.
    • It sounds like Feeder drew a crowd too big for that stage originally. Given the time period they haven’t appeared at Download as well it's a nostalgia thing. Halestorm vs Feeder wasn't the most ideal but leaving after either to get out would have been sweet at least.
    • You cant see everything unfortunately, it would be Halsey there for me 100%, the last 20/25 of Gorillaz. Halsey would be my non negotiable act on that day myself. Oddly Bleech 9:3 would actually give me an option I wouldn't mind between 3:15pm and Halsey. Dogstar would only likely be a 10 minutes thing of I've seen Keanu lol.
    • I think the tent was just right for Feeder, on that day anyway.   If you had a Biffy-esque day again, or someone of that ilk (maybe Pearl Jam for example), whack them on that main stage. 100%.    As it is, I think feeder will be back and probably high up the second stage or main stage next year or 2028.
    • I think we still have 2 acts to announce each day, maybe one more big name to complete the lineup?   Perhaps the big name is Turnstile on Thursday, which isn't sold out yet. And some other names that could be added like Iceage, Band of Horses or Tomora.
