Lime Kiln:

Pros: close to Gate A, quiet, plenty of space, friendly neighbours, solid tracks all the way back so no slippy/sticky mud or metal tracks.

Cons, big hill to get back, hilly field so kept sliding down in the sleeping bag, long way to nearest toilets.

Kidney Mead- a bit more space there this year than usual, and didn't start filling up until slightly later than it did last year. It was fine- I only really returned there once in the evening to put on my warmer night time clothes, and then later to sleep. I camp there more out of habit!

I didn't go this year due to funds but already planning where I want to camp next year... We camped in Park Home last year but was a bit far from all the stages we like (John Peel/Pyramid/Other/etc) so thinking Woodsies or Oxlyers next year. I worry about the volume of traffic going past Oxlyers during the day though, anyone had any trouble with getting stuff nicked?

Kidney Mead, just by the lock ups and camp steward van.

Pros:

Great place to camp for safety, ease to lock ups and toilets, we used the long drops through accorss the walk way toward Acoustic.

Reletively quiet

easy access down hill path to William Green toward West holt s etc

In View of Pyramid

Easy access to food

Cons:

Not many, though we were unlucky this year to have the fest tarnished by a group of teanagers who on mass left on Monday leaving the site a real mess, tents intact and trampled rubbish, really pissed me off as the previous 3 years camping in the same spot i have never seen this here as it seemed that an older more responsible crowd had cleared up more more to a degree then these. If you are reading this and think that that might have been you then shame on you.... tramps!

On reflection i would still camp here for it's access , reading this thread it's hard to find anywhere else where there might be a field with an older set of campers than value the site. What is family camping field like, does it still exist?

Rivermead:

+

Sheltered from sun by trees along the ditchline so morning sun doesn't cook you until almost noon.

Plenty of room still even by Thursday evening.

-

Fucking miles from anywhere.

Shit queues for toilets/water.

Miserable people.

I camped at the bottom of Big Ground on a flat bit just behind the red ice cream van. Arrived first thing Wednesday so was able to arrange tent spacing with my friendly neighbours as they turned up, had loads of space in front of my tent all weekend as a result. It all worked out really well for me, no real downsides I can think of and probably the best place I've camped so far (7th time this year). Will probably head there again next year if I haven't bought a motor home by then and I'm fortunate enough to get a ticket.

Hitchin Hill
Pros:
The tents weren't stacked on top of each other - we felt like we were living in a National park compared to some friends over in Oxlyers!
Easy access to the Pyramid stage.
Cracking views over the entire site.
Nice friendly neighbours (and familar faces from previous years)
No thefts.
You had a nice walk home to sort yourself out after the South East corner.
Cons:
You had a long walk home to sort yourself out after the South East corner.
You had to plan your day (i.e. when to pop back for more drink/evening clothes)

Row Mead.

Pros:

- Being so close to the Pyramid was ideal on rainy days

- Quiet at night

- Not too much of a slope for camping

Cons:

- Full by 8.30am

- Does attract that 'younger' crowd which have been mentioned

- Unable to escape Lily Allen during a strategic nap

- If you are at the tent and need a wee during the day from Friday onwards, you're in trouble. A mission to get to the loo during popular acts.

It's the 10th year in the same spot - a labour of love to get it each year but I do love it there!

Kidney Mead. Camped in the same spot for the last 4 festivals.

Only have good things to say about it really. Close to gate C, great access routes to some of the main thoroughfares. I don't spend too much time at The Park so the trek there isn't an issue for us. Great for T&C, Pyramid, Kids field, Willams Green (incl the food court), Acoustic and West Holts. Taking a trip over the top over the Pyramd to JP doesn't take too long either. Nipping back to the tent isn't a mission either.

They took away the stand pipe and long drops at the bottom bottom of KIdney mead and replaced them with mens urinals this year. Didn't prove much of a problem though with plenty of long drops just outside the entrance to the field by the cash points.

Campers are fairly quiet and not much noise from music after 0300. Never had anything stolen or any other problems there so far.

Hawkwell.

Pros:

- Great view of entire site, especially at night.

- Could sit an watch Pyramid from camp

- Didn't get muddy due to slope

- Reasonably quiet, apart from 4am scrags coming home - but you get that everywhere.

- Reasonably easy/quick access to all main stages & Williams Green markets

Cons:

- Sleeping on a slope, everything including airbed would slide downhill

- The walk up the incline after a day walking around site

- Smell of shite from the cow sheds at the top of the hill

- Quite a few trucks drive up/down the main path/road to/from the farm buildings

Overall not a bad experience, and was probably good with all the rain for drainage.

Will look for a slightly flatter spot next year!

Park Home.

Pros: Location is brilliant. Close to most stages including the Park for after hours. Walk back from SE corner/stone circle not too bad. From our camp we also had views up to the Glastonbury sign and over most of the rest of the site. Thought Arcadia worked well too. Amount of people walking through the tents to get there was minimal.

Cons: More litter/abandoned tents than previous years - but that seemed to be an unfortunate theme this year.

Kidney Mead, as usual

Pros: Near Pyramid, straight run down to West Holts, good food nearby, fairly quiet at night, near Gate B(?)

Cons: Miles from The Park

They had removed the longdrops from the top of the field but that was probably a pro for me, slept a lot better without the constant door clanging, and it was only the other side of the path to get to the ones in the Kids field.

South Park (for the second year in a row)

Pros:-

Space

Fewer dickheads (it felt pretty pleasant up there)

Cons:-

A bit of a trudge to places - though not so bad for Arcadia and The Park

Always a toilet queue in the morning - think people were nipping up to those toilets from Dairy.

There was quite a big group of us and so the fact that we could all camp together in relative space was more of a consideration that being in the thick of it...

Paines Ground

Not our 1st choice but we hadnt slept after queuing all of TuesdayPM/Wednesday so we settled here as we were all foooooooked.

Pros

Felt closer to everything in general as last year we were in South Park 2

Close to the park/arcadia (YES I GOT MY BLOODY MARY IN THE MORNING FIX - Thank you to the person on here who recommended the bar in the park :0)

Could hear the other stage

Only took 10-15 mins to get to the car for mandatory beer runs - this was our main reason for camping here as last year we were parked up the big hill outside gate A.

Close to long drops & relatively close to the compost toilets (AMAZING :0))

Cons

Only 1 con, NONE of our neighbours and I mean NONE were friendly, We would say hello and were lucky to get a nod and a smile back from all our direct neighbours, very odd and not the kind of Glasto spirit we are used to, I mean surely its more akward not saying hello to someone that has said hello to you even if you don't want to become Glasto buddies. Gave up even trying to spark up a convo with all our neighbours by Friday.

Daily Ground

Pros:

- Relatively quiet, you can hear the other stage if you stand near the loos and of course arcadia.

- Close to PGD and the car for booze run/packing away.

- Great for the Park and Other stage, a long stone's throw away...

- Close enough to the covered compost loos in t'Park.

Cons:

- Badly placed taps and sinks near to the Paines Ground corner with Park, the whole area turns into a muddy quagmire, especially that path to the lockup tent.

- A burger van that has a Calvin Harris CD on repeat all day/evening at top volume. Seriously, i think I could recite the words to We Found Love in my sleep whilst tapping the harmonies on bongos...

- Longdrops with no loo seat. Thus leading to people pissing all over the wood!

Hawkwell

A much more pleasant experience than Oxlyers in 2013. We were on a reasonably flat bit in the middle of the field to the right so slept fine, but i was so knackered each night it probably wouldn't have bothered me.

+ Close to Pyramid /John Peel

+ Well maintained toilets and plenty of urinals

+ Didn't witness or hear of any trouble at all

+ Close to the yellow and green tent bar (not sure of it's name)

+ Ground held up well in the rain

- Older crowd that kept themselves to themselves

That's about it for cons. Definitely camping there next year if successful with tickets :)

Nearest field to gate A ,the sectioned off part of cyclists camping.

+ Nearest field to gate A, piss easy get in/ get out

+ Not too busy, quiet, decent sleep

+ Toilets nearby ,though not that close to be woken by constant banging of doors, fairly well maintained too.

+ Good , quick access to a good breakfast

+ Lock ups not too far away

+ Miles away from naughty corner

Bushy Ground

(Which must have been awash with efesters!)

Pros - plenty of space, not likely to flood, decent neighbours, quiet enough (oddly I thought there was less noise from Arcadia this year?)

Cons - TOILETS (someone clearly dropped a bollock here, there were less than half the number of toilets compared with 2013) slippy exit from Silver Hayes, not sure why there couldn't be a metal walkway here?

Lime Kiln Ground

Usually camp on Hitchin Hill but didn't get to the fest til Thursday afternoon so plumped for the neighbouring field.

Pros

Dry ground but pegs still went in easily.

Quiet - got back 1 to 2am each night and nobody was ever about. Couldn't tell if they were all fast asleep or out in the naughty places. If the latter everyone was very tippy toesy coming home 'cause I never heard a peep.

Great views of the site.

Very clean bogs in Hitchin next door.

Cons

Although used to the hill climb home having to walk a little further at the top did start to take it out of me at night.

Everyone kept themselves to themselves - no neighbourly chats here so no atmosphere.

The service road to the Farmhouse brings big tractors, transits and people carriers aplenty but as it's so wide it caused no real probs. Could be noisy if pitched nearer this road though.

Bushey

Pros - Near Dance Village and John Peel.

- Right next to Gate D for easy exit (came in through Gate A)

Cons - Absolutely stank due to proximity to the farm

- Bit of a trek to anywhere but Dance Village and John Peel

- Crap toilets

don't think I'd stay there again
