This is the only thing stopping me from thinking it's next week, and it's a strong, compelling argument. The balance payment reminder email is already overdue and unlikely to be left until after the weekend. It will probably be sent today or tomorrow, and given the fallout over Kanye it makes absolute sense that they'd want to reassure everyone with more names.

Not all reminder emails arrive at once and I recall some being received as much as a day later.

So, line up tonight, emails tomorrow and over the weekend, payments next week.

I don't want to encourage excitement unecessarily but that is a very plausible scenario.

but last year the emails went out about 10 days before the lineup was dropped, didn't they?

they certainly went out before it as the lineup was in the middle of balance week...

there's nothing to stop them sending the email today, and then the lineup next week.

they'd really want to send the email soon, i know several of my group didn't know the balance was due next week....

Didn't Emily Eavis say they had to wait for people to sell their tours out, specifically people "coming over here" indicating an american. This was after Foo Fighters but before Kanye, is he touring?

Just thinking Madonna is still selling hers out and probably adding dates and stuff, anyone else selling off the last of their tour now?

Yes. As a band that's had 8 studio albums, countless top charting rock singles, a major TV show (just about to get a second series), played back to back dates at Milton Keynes bowl, had guest stars including Alice Cooper and Roger Taylor, and been a driving force in rock music for the last two decades.

They put on an awesome show when I saw them in MK, and they can easily get a field of 100,000 odd people jumping up and down like crazy! :) You'd have to be crazy to not accept that they are top drawer headliners.

'A driving force in rock music for two decades' -- bahaahahahaha. It's safe MOR Radio 1 shite for the masses which wouldn't inspire or influence any young band. They're in the same field as Kaiser Chiefs, for example.

I put in 'In Utero' the other day. Now THAT is a fucking tour de force if there ever was one.

Maybe there's a gentleman's agreement in place? I'm trying to think of any major festivals that make announcements either on the same day or the previous/next day and for the life of me I can't think of any. I'm sure they all talk to each other and share anticipated announcement dates so that they don't overshadow one another

Glastonbury announced Lionel - on a Sunday - the day before IoW announced Mac, which certainly took a lot of attention away from the latter.

Could Florence and the Machine be given the top spot on Sunday, but with Fleetwood Mac playing beneath them with a longer set time?

This would explained Emily's comment about Florence headlining but not headlining. Also would ensure that IoW festival have Fleetwood Mac as exclusive headliners.

Fleetwood Mac won't be there at all, but even if they are they'd be headlining.

I've got a feeling it's going to be Wednesday 8 April - the day after the balance payment window closes. With a slight possibility of the third headliner before/during the window but I doubt it.

It might just be me but there seemed to be few comments from the Eavii in October about how happy they were that people bought tickets for the festival without knowing who's playing. I know that the same has happened each year since 2009 but they seemed to be making more of a point of it.

When possible situations of Florence subbing Fleetwood Mac are being talked about .. It's official .. We've all gone insane!!!!!!!

I'm still expecting an underwhelming headliner. I think sheeran might make the trip as tough as it would be.

I'm expecting strong lineup elsewhere tho

Even ignoring his American dates, it would be really strange to see an act that played third down headline the following year on the same album tour.

I agree. I think that's the bump up she's referring to. I know it's a long shot, but he's massive now. As much as we aren't particularly fussed for it

I recall an article or interview last year by emily. She mentioned the need to make headliners when the issue of are headliners running out came up. She then went on to mentioning getting the acts when they were young and available.

It might bare influence on the final headliner. It might not

    • As someone that always likes looking at this stuff, compare the BBC opening titles...     ... and the ITV ones.     Tbf the BBC intro is better than the ones they used for the last World Cup, which I thought were pretty bad and on its own, the BBC choice actually isn't too bad. It's not as good as their pinball one for the last Euros, but the concept is reasonable. But let's be real, the ITV one is better.

    • Another new one from Overmono.   Album is shaping up nicely.
    • I'm only judging by highlights but considering that I saw a lot of anxieties from US fans about them getting it wrong after several bad results in the last year or so, they very much had it on opening night. Might be as much about Paraguay being a long way from the team that beat Brazil and Argentina in qualifying though.   Canada also doing something in a World Cup other than lose and arguably be good enough to have beaten Bosnia means reasonable start. Think they might regret not winning though.
