Actually this was the case in my flat. 19 people sharing my iron.

19? Where the hell did you go to uni?

My mum used to iron my jeans when I was younger, utter madness. She is a Coldplay fan though, so that explains it.

My mum irons pants. Fucking pants! She likes Coldplay too, I'm spotting a pattern here.

Newcastle. Purposely picked the biggest, shittest accommodation for the social aspect. Most flats in there were 12/13 people but for some reason we got stuck in the only 19 person flat to have ever existed. We also didn't have a table, or a freezer, and had one fridge between us, and had to eat meals on the corridor floor if we didn't want to eat alone in our rooms, and people used to come out the lift and see us and ask what the fuck was wrong with us. A strange experience.

Just been catching up on this, hilarious. Am super excited to go to war with the Coldplay forum, will we all meet up at West Holts on Wednesday afternoon for a fight? We can get the Taylor Swift forum and the Foo Fighters forum involved too and all have a massive battle. Years later we'll be saying "Remember when Matt42 killed a man with a trident?"

Ah, I put the biggest, shittest accommodation at UEA as my first choice for the same reason (it's the building on the front of The Streets' last album, actually), and instead they put me in the more expensive one with the weird layout that made it impossible to socialise with your flat. Bastards.

I'm in a flat with three others who all share the total reverse of my work ethic. It's ace.

Haha my brother's at UEA and his mate once got stuck on top of that accommodation whilst drunk.

UEA are installing a napping room in the SU. Genius.

I reckon we should all meet up, watch Mik Artistik together, and then all have a drink and discuss what our common traits are, what unites us and how we can make the world a better place together. I bet the Foos lot wouldn't go for it though, they'd antagonise everybody and it'd end up as a riot. Me and the rest of the Swift lot are going to cut out early to head to the theatre & circus field for cocktails, gonna talk about cats and hashtags.

HAHA shit me I never drew the connection!

Also COLDPLAY WAS THE YEAR BEFORE HE WENT; IT WAS CHASE AND STATUS WHEN HE WENT!

Yep, that was the year I started. There were people queuing overnight to get tickets. Madness. Don't think it was fresher's week though, I seem to remember it being later in the year than that.

Oh yeah, it's so easy to get on top of Norfolk and Suffolk Terrace. You just have to grab on to those spout drainpipe things on the corner of each level. A popular post-LCR pastime, aided by the grip added to your shoes by the sticky dancefloor.

Also, if that nap room doesn't become a new target for people to have sex in then I will be very surprised.

Yeah it was later in the year, I just thought it was freshers week the first time I posted about it.

Haha, love the LCR. First time I went I took my brother's ID cause I was 17, and then he turned up about an hour after me and it turned out he knew the guy behind the bar. Fortunately I hadn't been ID'd; that'd have been fun.

    • Judging by last night at Wembley, Luke Combs should be in the conversation of headliner. The UK is having a moment with country music so I don't think it would be particularly left field either.

    • It feels really busy this year, loads of big groups of youngsters too. Slightly different vibe to previous years I've been. As with Tramlines, they're very chatty during sets and there's a constant stream of them in and out of the crowd... definitely feeling my age 😂   The Quarry stage I think is a lot smaller than previous years - seems similar size to Squid/Leadmill. Some sets have been difficult to get in.   I think I've reached my limit with mid-tier indie guitar bands. There's been quite a few this weekend where I've gone over to see them then walked away after 20 mins. Surprisingly, enjoyed the Fratellis set the most in this genre. Probably getting on for 20 years since I last saw them. Wasn't expecting them to do Yes Sir, I Can Boogie, which was fab!   Hugely enjoyed the Happy Mondays yesterday, and same but different with Radio Free Alice who I saw again on Friday, following Tramlines last weekend. A big run of pop acts today - Scissor Sisters will be fantastic!
