Again, whilst this may be true, craig, does the unprecedented demand in October (upgraded servers notwithstanding) not indicate that they will shift an even higher than usual number of returns?

There is, of course, an argument that the returnees will be replaced by those who are not put off by the lack of an announcement...by, dare I say it, people who are a bit more attuned to the true philosophy of GF...

Just a thought.

Ben

In an ideal world I (and probably most eFestivals memebers) would love to think people are attending for the love of the festival rather than the commercial music and big bands.

But in the real world this is not the case. Demand is there because of the big name bands and depth of line up. Look at Rolling Stones and Dolly Parton crowd numbers over past 2 years. Spend a bit of time in Silver Hayes.

The festival as got a good thing going and in a unique position. It sells out months before a single name as been announced and sometimes even booked. But as 2008 shows only takes a bad year with the weather and average line up for the demand to reduce. And with them announcing the line up later this year and booking Kanye they are seeing a backlash from some ticket buyers

3 of my group are starting to get seriously annoyed at the lack of a line up.

I'll admit I'm frustrated about it but i know that it will be with us soon and will be great as it usually is.

Given your avatar III, are we confident of Mr Hartnell's appearance? Should I be hoping for him to play The Glade (I'm a newbie, but long term Orbital/PH fan)?

M.E. Smith had the moaners and w*nkers bang to to rights, intentionally or not...

All those whose mind entitles themselves,

and whose main entitle is themselves,

shall feel the wrath of my bombast!

Clanging in my heart.

Bastard! Idiot!

I'm not bothered when the line-up comes as long as it's not right up to the wire, excitement needs to build for individual acts! Possibly fueled quite a bit by the fact that getting a ticket is much more of a focus, and the TBCs have satisfied me anyway. Sharon Van Etten, The Cribs, Hot Chip and Kanye West is a hell of a weekend either way, additions in the shape of Patti Smith, Taylor Swift, FKA Twigs, Charli XCX and Todd Terje would make me very happy but are not essential.

No not yet. Is it, ahem, available yet?

What's your favourite Orbital album? (I sound like an excited teenager who might have met seamen who likes their footie team!)

I'm sure you meant someone Haha

Probably Brown album.

It is available on itunes, CD and Vinyl ;) and it's good, very much a follow up to Wonky.

I believe Paul has been announced for at least one festival so far. Glade would be great to hear some Orbital classics and the new 8:58 stuff.

Well I have seen this kind of reaction to Glastonbury for years since I first heard about the festival in the eighties tbrough CND youth magazine. The reality is although the festival will always have its waxing and waning, lineup announcements and individual artists will do little to alter this. I am extremely dubious of claims to the contrary as they have never been proven. Jay Z, I am convinced had no influence on tickets sold but a foot of mud certainly did.

A combo of average headliners/line up and bad weather will reduce demand over time. Glastonbury is at a peak at the moment, we all know what happens next...

It will have a core audience in the likes of us eFestivals members and people that have been going for years who love the festival. But we grow old, get married, pay more bills. They need the newbies.

Some/a lot of the newbies demand the line up, demand big/quality bands, petition a headliner not to their taste

Brown album is a bone fida classic. Snivilisation still gets very regular plays here as well. So pleased to have seen them in their heyday as well

Will get onto it ASAP.

Mine would be In Sides, closely followed by the Brown album.

I have In Sides on double vinyl and it's my favourite complete dance record of all time.

Really stupid question - I'm abroad from 20th april till 7th May. If the line-up comes out whilst i'm away without laptop (as it's large and falling to pieces) i can't update the ipod that i listen to pretty much constantly.

I'd join spotify but that won't help me out and about without 3g right? I'll have my wife's laptop - is there an easier way than downloading new stuff on that, wiping my ipod and re-registering?

Brown album was the first i got though so it had unfair advantage. I was so disappointed when they finished in 04 and I'd never seen them. Very glad they came back, think i saw them live 4 times and a dj set. That night at the Other stage 2010 was unbelievable and easily my fave set at Glastonbury.

I think on spotify you can make playlists to play offline so you could do this on wi-fi somewhere and play it on your phone when out and about (think you need premium version for this though)

Oh thanks Craig... I did see the lineup page has changed now to nearer the festival rather than spring :/

I wouldn't read too much into it as it's FULL line up in June. That's always been the case for most years.

    • I too am always a bit blurred on what/who constitutes a legend slot but would Sting fit that bill?  Those there said his IoW slot was v good and he has enough of a songbook imo for a Sun afternoon if he uses the Police's 1st 2 albums for a fair chunk of it
    • Thing is, I'd have said that as well.   But then she inexplicably ended up on the Wilderness lineup and that changes everything. I reckon if that goes well, which it will, then she's very much in the picture.
    • This has probably been discussed a hundred times already on efests but what constitutes a legend? I know some of it is my age but I don't see eurithmics or Duran Duran as legend status. Neil young or nils lofgren then yes and neither of them have overly troubled the charts. Duran Duran and indeed the eurithmics I would put in the 80s category and whilst it would be ok (human league at isle of wight we're fabulous) they just arent in my mind legend status.  Zombies played same festival- i would take that.
    • friendly tonight delayed , pitch draining pretty quick to be fair .... not sure it bodes well for other games with potential fixture backlog
    • Never happen, but an Annie Lennox solo or Eurythmics reunion would make me very happy.
