Funnily enough, last night I found myself in an indie nightclub, against my better judgement. It was in here that I encountered Becky from Oldham, who told me that Reni was her brother's dog's mate's local butcher's uncle's next door neighbour or something shit like that, and it was through this close relationship she had with Reni, that she knew The Stone Roses would be the final Glastonbury headliner. Take this info with a pinch of salt, because Becky from Oldham struck me as something of a moron.

I work in Oldham so I feel your for the encounter you suffered last night.

Were you out in Oldham or in town?

This is from the stone roses forum

"Stone Roses Fans Page on FB, lad on there bumped into Reni and his wife yesterday, photos to prove it. Reni's response to being asked if the album was happening was 'That's the million dollar question', accompanied by a "cheeky smile"

Requested to join the page to see for myself, but yet again more rumours bubbling.

The Roses have had the tunes since they got back together, ive heard them all promise it was coming the year after and it never has.

From what I've heard, they simply don't get on and don't want to tour with each other for the time being. They are unpredictable, but THIS unpredictable? I'm not so sure...of course my source could be wrong and I'll post whenever he says something different.

For a moment I thought you said you'd heard all the new songs, I was like what!! But yea they have all promised this year, and there was that rumour a couple of years back that they had split but a spokesperson said "no comment" and that was it. I have complete faith they will have a new album, I don't think they would allow to reunite for the money and then just split up. It was never about that for the. Keep on keeping on with that faith!

Pretty sure I must know Mani as well, since everybody else has some connection to him it seems

We all know at least one member as best mates, and you may not remember but everyone went to spike island too.

I dunno... charlatans tweeted saying '<3 glastonbury' then quickly removed it and are now denying it (surprise surprise)... To me at least it seems like they're clearly playing and have been told to play ignorant about it, and I wouldn't be surprised if most acts just did that as a default answer.

yeah, it's pretty unlikely that Charlatans don't know yet if they're playing.

my friend's band played the Acoustic stage in 2013 and knew in January that they were playing, and the general time they'd be on shortly after.

for well-known bands who are touring, they'd all know at this stage what general time they're on, let alone if they're playing, as many would have travel and logistics for getting to other festivals/countries that would have to be booked months ago.

maybe a DJ in The Rum Shack or somewhere mightn't be 100% yet, but a band the size of The Charlatans would definitely know if they're playing with less than 3 months to go for an appearance in the middle of festival season.

It's possible they know they are playing but not where or when yet. I know a band who are playing this year and have been moved around a few potential stages and (I think) still not completely finalised their position

Is it the stone roses presumably?

I'm guessing that's Public Service Broadcasting going by your post last night?

Glastonbury shifts acts around all the time. Didn't Lily Allen self confirm for the sunday and then she was actually playing the friday?

I'd imagine that unless that's the only days they can do, acts are pencilled in and told you'l be playing here unless something changes or we offer you a different day.

Is no one mentioning the fact that the only remaining possible headliners on the rumours page is Florence and P***** due to not wanting to jinx it? If Emily's denied Florence isn't He the only one left who's likely to do it?! Unless it's just a let down that no one knows about of course.

I see it like this.

Florence - Possibly filling in.

Stone Roses - Name being thrown around but no evidence they are active.

Madonna - Name being thrown around.

Prince - Name being thrown around.

Someone we haven't thought of yet.

If I was a betting man, I'd say that the reason the third headliner hasn't been announced already, is because who ever it doesn't want it announced yet. A Prince, Stone Roses, one we haven't thought of yet seems to make the most sense.

Fuck knows though :)

Prince - I would like this but No chance.

Someone we haven't thought of yet - Most have been mentioned at least once but I think whoever it is comes under this heading

Prince or Taylor Swift for me! Would have loved The Who if they weren't busy that day. I think Florence is unlikely but may be there somewhere, and would definitely be elsewhere for the Stone Roses in the very unlikely chance it is them. Bored me to death at Isle of Wight the other year.

    • The first half of that game was cracking but then I fell asleep at half time. Maybe that's just the momentum of things.

    • A win is a win but it was a very poor game with only 4 shots on target in the whole game. Scotland obviously handed a massive bonus with Brazil and Morocco drawing but I don't think either of them will be too worried.
