I kind of lost track of the received wisdom during today's madness, but are tickets for that Paris show still on sale ANYWHERE? Including the secondary sales bastards? Because if yes, and people are conceivably buying tickets in good faith, for an event that has already, unofficially been cancelled then (a) that's just stratospheric levels of piss taking and ( b ) fraud?

This whole thing, if so, just stinks of capitalist, materialist shite to me. And I'm pretty easy going, generally.

Ben

My understanding is that they are sold out anyhow? Not checked myself tho

I don't like bringing up football on here as it often turns into an argument, but..

I think I read you support newport (if thats wrong sorry) but still:

Terry Butcher is announced as their manager. If a few weeks before the season he says "Sod it, Im going to Derby" what would you think to that?

Same principle.

I just wrote a big response to this and hit refresh in error.

I can't be arsed writing it again.

Basically I see ur point, I personally wouldn't hold it against anyone and would make the most of my situation, and I know nothing about Newport. I do however know terry butcher, he signed one of my balls when I was a kid

Bit of an odd body part to get signed

Having been out of the loop for well over a week with my aim of sorting out a new job before the end of May (I have a new job starting next week, just in time for me to enjoy Glastonbury with a nice pay packet)... The Who are the 3rd headliners? A band which was ruled out because of a gig in Paris.. I haven't got around to reading the thread about The Who. But I am confused! Cracking set of headliners if it is true. Will they just reschedule the gig in Paris? I hope so for everyone who has a ticket for the gig!

I agree completely that this would be a dick move from Townsend and Daltrey If it's true.

Saying that. Always liked The Who. Never seen them. Considering some of the shite that's been touted this year this isn't all that bad.

What did people make of them in 2007?

They were okay, but the Sunday night was a tough slot for anyone after all of the rain and mud that year. Some people left on the Thursday that year because of the flooding!

I think I would've enjoyed it more if I were more familiar with them to be honest - and I've barely listened to them since as well!

I doubt StubHub have removed anything, I doubt they had any listed to start with.

If you look at their Upcoming Events for the venue, only a few shows are listed and only 3 of them have any tickets showing. Looks like StubHub isn't a big thing in France.

the other issue for me is they played in 2007 and it would be virtually the same set, no new material...a 'heritage act' shouldn't headline twice

Agreed. Unless they happen to be called Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen or Paul McCartney!

Anyway, aside from the shiteyness of it all, I need a Sunday headliner, so I'm gonna get cracking giving them a good listen - I only (knowingly) know My Generation and Pinball Wizard.

Listened to a couple of Belle and Sebastian songs when the lineup first came out and wasn't too bothered by them, but obviously that's only a couple of songs. Same story with the Chems, too; only know a couple of songs.

The Who are ace. The Chems are ace. You've a treat instore either way gaffer.

I'm not sure I'd go as far as using the word "nonce", but there was definitely some dodgy behaviour and a spell on the sex offenders register.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-19876936

The man admitted buying child porn - that to me makes him a nonce.

Therefore if Glasto book them I will be as far away as I can be. A nonce headlining the Pyramid is unacceptable. I have already had to erase Rolf from my memory without allowing Pete Child Porn Townsend play too

You know he's already played the Pyramid since then, right? With a respectable crowd and no real controversy as far as I remember.

    • Electric Callboy just said they'll be touring here next year. I'm not sure there's a poster for it though. I'll look when I'm near some next.      He said we'll see you at Download at a gig before any of the band. Presumably he was trolling. They're in Austria at the moment and Germany tomorrow with a week's break and more shows in Germany. Whilst not impossible to come back here and then go over there again, it seems unlikely.
    • Thomas Partey, knocked back by Canadian immigration now.
    • I'm sure someone can update you on the clashfinder, and it will be pretty accurate by the time the festival comes around. It's a large flat-ish arena with main stage in the open air, no best side I'd say. Leadmill (3rd stage medium tent) is at the back of the main arena, T'Other (2nd stage big tent) 5 min walk round the corner. At full capacity walking around can take a bit more time though. I noticed that The Enemy are scheduled to not fully overlap with Wolf Alice, so you could catch part of their set too.   You can walk around anywhere with a beer, with most bars the usual mass market stuff, but one nice craft ale tent, back of the arena near the Leadmill stage. A main meal will set you back £10-15, but cheaper snacks also available. Expect a pint to be £7-8. Possibly a bit more this year as prices everywhere are increasing.   It's fairly easy to get to from the town centre using the tram, although can be busy at peak times / very busy at curfew. If you like a walk, it's approx 40 mins to Kelham Island (lots of indy venues) and probably an hour to the city, or catch an Uber. There will be loads of 'fringe' music events on around the city right through the weekend. Most are free. Have a wonderful trip, enjoy the festival, and your stay in our city!
    • I think people on a place like this, that clearly value live music more than most, don't. I'd rather an academy than an arena every day. But I could see a few people that care about "the gram" than the actual music wanting an arena experience even if it's a mid sized band.
    • The single worst shout for any slot on any stage in the history of efests. Worse even than the Wursels or The Wombles.    Unlikely I’d be there, but okay with the other two. Boy George is a class act, plus he could DJ in Block 9
