As it appears we are all going to have a lot of time on our hands before we get a final announcement here's a little exercise to get you thinking.

Put the following in order, most likely to least likely to happen

Madonna headining this year

Led Zeppelin hl this year

Florence hl this year

Florence hl any year

Hell freezing over

Prince hl this year

Prince hl any year

Pigs flying

Glastonbury 2015 winning an award for best customer service prior to festival date

Torquay winning the Premier League

As someone that lives in Torquay and watches them I really can assure you that Torquay will Never get in the Premier league , championship or league 1 ! We are shocking!

on the gf website it says lineup will be announced nearer to the festival whereas it used to say announced in spring ? Spring ends like June arghhh

It's my time to shine again.... Says 'FULL' line up. The full line up as always been released in June.

I'm thinking of changing my signature to this.

Best guess at min would be they will release the line up after ETC, giving enough time to plug the band.

They will get the press and publicity for the winner. Then release line up a bit after that. People won't take much notice to a new band if they have a list of 100s / 1000s of established bands playing the festival

Wow it has certainly got a little heated in here this year ! Not exactly the Glastonbury vibe I remember from previous years. Hopefully it will sort itself out.

As for the lineup being released. Yeah it would be great to able to sit and spend hours hunting through it to find little gems you can't wait to see. However who really cares who's playing in the end, it's Glastonbury we all go for not the bands.

As a great man once said "word to your mother".

The great Basement Jaxx or Ian Brown debate of 2005!

Not close, obviously, and despite being up to my knees in sticky mud, Brown's set that night was a top ten (maybe top five) Glasto gig ever for me. It might have been number one if he hadn't been yanked off stage as Mani played the opening bass line for I Am The Resurrection

Sorry am I confused or you? Mani was with the Scream in 05 not with Brown and The Scream over ran prior to the Jaxx on the Pyramid and got kicked off after Mani played a few notes of I wanna be adored......Bobby Guilespe was in top notch petulant form that night...

Been busy since mid-afternoon, getting ready for Mrs Ben and me to go to Paris tomorrow where she's running the marathon on Sunday.

Anything happened?

Obviously that's as close to rhetorical as a non-rhetorical question can get, given the nature of this beloved thread.

RODNEY BRANIGAN - He usually plays Small World Stage on Wed or Thu. Great introductory dose of 'music' on the first few days before the weekend begins. Terrific showman and cracking bloke. Btw he also sings and he often plays a really cool rendition of Kanye West's Golddigger and Radiohead's Creep.

Shouldn't really share this bloke cos that wee tent can get packed but I'm sure you'll appreciate. Pick up some tasty grub from Green Fields area, sit down and enjoy.

Oooooo very excited at the suggestion for the Wed/Thurs!! Thank you huni xx

Mani came on right at the end of Brown's set to do IATR and they pulled the plug because they'd over-run. It was all that kept the set from perfect.

Scream that year were amazing! i'd forgotten that. Cheers.

Edit: best evidence I can turn up on a quick google: http://www.john-squire.com/ianbrown/media/manon05-06-27.html

Jesus! I have no memory of that what so ever. Hence the confusion! That Sunday was a session and a half....

    • Electric Callboy just said they'll be touring here next year. I'm not sure there's a poster for it though. I'll look when I'm near some next.      He said we'll see you at Download at a gig before any of the band. Presumably he was trolling. They're in Austria at the moment and Germany tomorrow with a week's break and more shows in Germany. Whilst not impossible to come back here and then go over there again, it seems unlikely.
    • Thomas Partey, knocked back by Canadian immigration now.
    • I'm sure someone can update you on the clashfinder, and it will be pretty accurate by the time the festival comes around. It's a large flat-ish arena with main stage in the open air, no best side I'd say. Leadmill (3rd stage medium tent) is at the back of the main arena, T'Other (2nd stage big tent) 5 min walk round the corner. At full capacity walking around can take a bit more time though. I noticed that The Enemy are scheduled to not fully overlap with Wolf Alice, so you could catch part of their set too.   You can walk around anywhere with a beer, with most bars the usual mass market stuff, but one nice craft ale tent, back of the arena near the Leadmill stage. A main meal will set you back £10-15, but cheaper snacks also available. Expect a pint to be £7-8. Possibly a bit more this year as prices everywhere are increasing.   It's fairly easy to get to from the town centre using the tram, although can be busy at peak times / very busy at curfew. If you like a walk, it's approx 40 mins to Kelham Island (lots of indy venues) and probably an hour to the city, or catch an Uber. There will be loads of 'fringe' music events on around the city right through the weekend. Most are free. Have a wonderful trip, enjoy the festival, and your stay in our city!
    • I think people on a place like this, that clearly value live music more than most, don't. I'd rather an academy than an arena every day. But I could see a few people that care about "the gram" than the actual music wanting an arena experience even if it's a mid sized band.
    • The single worst shout for any slot on any stage in the history of efests. Worse even than the Wursels or The Wombles.    Unlikely I’d be there, but okay with the other two. Boy George is a class act, plus he could DJ in Block 9
