Adele's lack of activity would go both ways - in one sense, she doesn't deserve to be there as much as many other artists who've toiled hard over the years or have a justifiable back catalogue instead of releasing a couple of mediocre albums then complaining about paying tax. On the other hand, it would be her first gig for absolutely ages and it would definitely cause a huge buzz. She'd draw a big crowd, that's for sure.

I'm not her biggest fan but Adele would disappoint me less than Coldplay.

This. Perfectly put. I'm sure that Russy will be along before too long with that tax quote that he likes to drop every time her name is mentioned. ;)

She'd be a big score for the festival if she were to headline this year, both on account of her broad popularity and how long it's been since she was out there doing proper gigs. Not someone I'd have any interest in seeing, although to be honest none of the mooted Pyramid headliners are, unless Elton is more than a pipe dream on these forums.

The article says 'for Saturday night' so why are people discussing her merits against Florence and the Machine or Taylor Swift, neither of whom would be booked for Saturday night?

Oh I remember now...

Because most people believe Coldplay and Foos are nailed on.

The 3rd headliner is the "up for grabs" one. Swift and Florence were / are the 2 front runners.

Someone has posted the lineup for Firefly Festival in the US, which is a week before Glastonbury. Two of the headliners are announced, KoL and Killers (!), but the third is currently blurred out. Most believe it's Paul McCartney. In 496 pages I'm sure somebody has mentioned him but what chances McCartney for Glastonbury? It's been 11 years. Coldplay have headlined twice in that time!

i wouldn't have thought it likely, he's done it once and crossed it off the list. given the amount of money he makes from his own tour, that festival are probably paying him a hefty fee.

more chance of Kings of Leon or The Killers IMO, 7 and 8 years respectively since they headlined. probably more likely for 2016 though.

If you like Adele and not TS then Adele is better than TS.

now reverse what I typed.

Personally neither thanks

"TS than better is Adele then TS not and Adele like you if"

Quite.

Adele isn't my thing, but its finally a rumour of an undisputed headline size act, who are not fecking Coldplay

Not really. In our heads it's up for grabs but I'm sure if they coaxed F+TM out of doing other festivals, they wouldn't be umming and ahhing about the headliner credentials still. Whereas the likes of Coldplay and Foo Fighters would be more realistic for the Saturday night slot (because F+TM are still debatable and Swift is elsewhere), would [maybe] demand similar fees and stuff and don't need festivals.

I wasn't being all that serious though.

adele, TS and flo are ALL shit.

Flo maybe a posh public school dullard, and TS may make music for little kids but adele appears to be by far the biggest c**t of the bunch.

"Speaking to Q magazine, the Rolling in the Deep singer said, "I'm mortified to have to pay 50%! [While] I use the NHS, I can't use public transport any more. Trains are always late, most state schools are shit, and I've gotta give you, like, four million quid – are you having a laugh? When I got my tax bill in from [the album] 19, I was ready to go and buy a gun and randomly open fire."

She also doesn't seem to understand how public transport works
