Here are the total mm's of rain from the sites that are currently forecasting wed-sun.

2qk5rfp.jpg

More sites will be added as they cover the whole festival, and I'll start doing a graph from tomorrow.

If we take 10mm of rain to = 2013, then 6 out of 7 sites are forecasting 2014 to be better than 2013.

That said, yesterday looked pretty bad, so it may fluctuate a lot until a couple of days before the festival.

Nice data. Makes it really clear how much fluctuation there is between sites though. WHO CAN I TRUST?!!??! Seems like no one till Sunday...

A couple of weeks ago, there were widespread reports of storms in Somerset even less than a week before they were scheduled to happen. They never did and it was actually quite lovely.

We'll know what the weather is like when we get there. My experience is that unless they're certain it's going to rain, it's usually better than predicted.

Yeah I agree with this, more often than not, unless is pretty much a definite, here in the South West if it's a mixed forecast, then it tends to be better than expected - often the worst weather moves further north - such as last week for eg. Obviously I'm making a general statement but I do think that is the trend.

Still gloriously warm down here in Zummerzet :)

And my own (dodgy) scientific observation is; last Sunday was the first time this year I was able to cut the grass when it was dry and we're on clay and the water table has been right up for months... it's looking good people, it's looking good :D

That would be an ecuminical matter

Is there anything to be said for saying another mass ?

"Ah great, mass! Father Ultan Crosbie is doing it, I'm a huge fan of his, he gives good mass... he really, he really knows how to work the altar. Look at that chalice work - effortless!"

that's a hugely positive upturn isn't it? fingers crossed it stays closer to what they are saying today vs yesterday!

I think 2013 had far more than 10mm on the thurs, it was torrential for most of the day.

I seem to recall it starting around late afternoon/early evening, carrying on throughout before becoming light around 9ish? Then by the very early hours of Friday it had pissed off.

Must have been more than 10mm though, I agree.

Started about 4pm as I was having a cider at the bus and had to run to my tent. Remember it stopped about 9-10pm as everyone went out and it did get muddy initially - the park was a mess. But by midday the next day it was all dry again.

Fancy a guess at what it actually was? I think it was Jackone/J10 that said it was 10mm.

Yup- he anticipated about 6mm or something the day before, but afterwards said we got more than anticipated.

My Tuesday - Thursday forecast app on 10 day look ahead is looking dry 20-22 range, and the potential showers have subsided. This may mean the weekend will dip who knows, but I'm believing it for as long as they stay good. BELIEVE

the local police/scottish environment agency put out a heavy rain/flood warning this afternoon. i immediately went to the bbc/met office forecast - no mention of it even an hour before the deluge started.

yet here i am. watching and, yes, praying to the weather gods.

Cripes SCF!

That's sort of anti-science, isn't it?

    • I think it happened a week ago. Btw, Ela Minus looks like a great addition for the opening free day now. Anyone been to this venue? Is there like a closed place or they just put an open air stage somewhere in the park?
    • I see the weekend tickets have sold out. When did that happen? I recall seeing that Friday day tickets had all gone but was surprised to see today that weekend ones had too.
    • I thought some time back that I could see Get Down Services getting a slot in Woodsies
    • Tickets on sale when I'm abroad (I'm assuming this sells out in minutes), and the actual dates could not be worse for me work-wise. Still going to try to get tickets, of course, but god damn!
    • I'm personally confident that Slipknot will be one of the headliners next year (no insider info just lines up with them likely releasing an album soon)    Then there's the headliner that's never played the festival before which the bookers have alluded to so that's one of Blink, Foos, NIN, Nickelback and possibly Pearl Jam or even Bon Jovi    The third band I also think will be a new headliner who are being bumped up so Deftones, Offspring, Paramore Etc.    I'd love Slipknot, Foos and Paramore but realistically i'd go with Slipknot, Blink and Deftones
