Bowie for Glastonbury.

Yes, I am clutching at straws, BUT until those headline acts are confirmed, I'll continue to clutch.

Here goes. . .

This theory has as much to do with Arcade Fire as it does with Bowie himself.

Now, many of us are aware of the admiration each act has for one another. In 2005 Bowie cited himself has 'the Arcade Fire's number one fan' and also joined the band on stage to play a number of his and their songs.

Obviously, not much longer after this, Bowie went off into the wilderness and Arcade Fire built their career.

So, fast forward from 2005 to last year and, as we know, Bowie returned (with an album that was BORN to be played live) and also provided backing vocals on Arcade Fire's first single off the new album.

Sorry if I'm boring you here, but this is were my thinly veiled theory starts to take shape.

December 13th 2013 Arcade Fire announce their headline slot at Glastonbury. Rewind 10 years to the day and David Bowie is playing on his final tour to date in none other than MONTREAL, the home of Arcade Fire. At this moment, I'm still trying to find any information if any of Arcade Fire were at that gig. I'd put good money on the answer being yes.

I know it's not much to go off but IF Bowie was asked to do Glastonbury I believe he'd want his good friends and favourite musicians there with him, maybe to come out and do a song with him.

Sorry if this has bored the pants off anyone, but I'm dreaming and will continue to dream.

Finally, at The Brits, a VT for Bowie played out as he was nominated for best album. Throughout the VT were lyrics and quotes. The very last quote that appeared on our screens was. . .

". . . If I might, I might play one show, but who knows when. . ."

This has to be significant.

If he was going to do a one-off show it'd be for his fans, not a random crowd such as glastonbury. I also suspect it would be in his home town: NYC.

I think if he played glastonbury it couldnt possibly hope to come close 2000, for a multitude of reasons, so I cant see what he has to gain from making glastonbury his comeback.

I also reckon he thinks the new arcade fire album is a bit shit

I've always hoped it would be bowie but can't let my dreams cloud reality.

He won't be doing it no matter how much people search for clues etc.

Strange one The Bowie. I think his exile has raised his status beyond all recognition to what it was when he was last touring. Don't get me wrong, I like a bit of Bowie and would like to see him. His earlier albums are rightly held up in some esteem but he didn't half release some crap in the 80s & 90s.

I think he was playing arenas rather than stadiums and when he did play bigger shows like Milton Keynes Bowl, they didn't sell out. My mate got a ticket off a tout for £2.00 for that one.

In the 90s his popularity dipped (along with his music output) but the heathen and reality tours were smash hit sellouts. It is no coincidence they happened after his "rebirth" at glastonbury I reckon.

A lot of people thought his glastonbury performance could be a flop.

I bought tickets for Tin the Park on the back of him headlining, heart attack put paid to him being there and The Darkness got promoted, sod that Muse were on the other stage, still would love to see him

He's the master of secrecy too. Anyone who can keep the making of an album a secret, in this day and age, with the likes of Facefook and Twatter, would have no problem keeping a Glastonbury headline slot a secret too.

I would hate it if he played again and I doubt very much he would. Nothing can top the last time. He's been seriously ill since then and he's not the performer he was. He just wouldn't do it.
