I'm loving it to be honest, just imagine that blasting out of the speakers in a tiny, packed club. As much as I love Visions, she was never going to get much more mileage out of that sound, I'd rather she take the risk of changing it up a bit.

it's not bad. obviously not as brilliant as the first, and they've mellowed / streamlined somewhat, but it's probably as good as you could expect. a few riffs seem overly familiar as well and i can't put my finger on whether they've done it as a tribute / wink to their last album or if they've genuinely just ripped themselves off

I really enjoyed it. Obviously not as striking as the first one but it's hard to compare the two having listened to the debut constantly for six years or so. Looking forward to listening again actually.

10 days until the new Counting Crows album is out. It's getting the usual begrudging 'it's alright' reviews from the mainstream press in the US when some of the writers clearly want to hate it but I'm rather looking forward to it. The first new original material since 2008, touring the UK later this year, all good, nothing bad.
