Agreed, they could easily hit Australiasia late 2014, so it may not be as exhausting as it looks but still, 40 festival dates is a massive commitment. I'd be more thrilled if there weren't one or two more obvious festivals they could attend. That said, Glastonbury could easily accommodate them and they'd get a huge crowd. I think the best thing going for us is Big Boi attending previously and by all accounts having a great time.

I had no idea the pre-festival build up would be this nervewracking! I'm loving it but I'm finding myself anxious that the artists I really want are at my first Glasto. If Outkast play elsewhere in the UK but not Worthy Farm I'll be gutted.

There is nowhere in my opinion for glastonbury to put them, too big for west holts, too small for Pyramid headliner, not fitting with the Other Stage programming. (doubt they would go for less than headliner if headlining Coachella) However, If ever there was a band with 'Bestival headliner' written all over it, it would be them, especially with Andre 3000s outlandish stage attire.....

You can probably argue it's not necessarily true but that looks to me like they'll just be headlining festivals. If they are headlining a number of festivals then I don't really see the dipping down to headline Other or sub Pyramid just for Glastonbury, who wouldn't pay them particularly handsomely either.

I'm pretty sure they can headline myself, if you picked 100 random people of the street I'm certain the vast majority of them would be able to name more outkast songs than arcade fire or Mumford and sons. Don't get me wrong I do think that arcade fire are big enough to headline but I also think outkast are.

Plus I doubt they'd take anything but headliner because they may see it as pointless as they will be headlining the majority of their '40 plus' dates.

Would live to see them there in any form but I do believe they can be a headliner.

You also want to steer clear of Ms Jackson, Roses and Bombs Over Baghdad , they're all 50+ scorers, that is no good. Then, to a lesser degree, Players Ball and So Fresh, So Clean could crop you up with a big ugly 30ish points each.

I'm without a TV gameshow analogy for Arcade Fire having done loadz of tours since Outkast broke up like 7 years ago, so I'll just have to state it in boring old plain fashion, but there it is. To sum up, Outkast are as much a headliner as Arcade Fire.

What a brilliant analogy for this time in the morning (went for a more family fortunes vibe myself) I think that now outkast are back around, people will start listening to them as much as a lot of other modern day headliners, they are currently being spoken about an awful lot from people I know...

I'd say if there was ever a stronger indication. If they really are doing it just for the money, say they get the equivalent of $1.5m a show, 39 x 1.5 is the equivalent of $58m, that is if they pay what would be €1m a show, which is plausible.

If it is the big payday they're supposedly after, then surely a couple of thousand from Glastonbury isn't bad all considering.

I think they will only be able to get the BIG BIG paydays from U.S festivals, where they have been popular since 1994 where rap music has always been huge. over here i cannot see them being pyramid headliners, its too close to the Jay-Z fiasco, where it didnt sell out to the last minute, and eavis probably sees it in his mind (same as he does with the pearl jam deaths thing) that its too much of a risk for a pyramid headliner.

I still find it funny people think Eavis still worries about the Pearl Jam fan deaths thing. I'd find it even sillier if he actually does. They're not that type of band anymore at all.

but surely only in the US are they really seen as headliners (and if that tumblr account is anything to go by, even over there they're not exactly HUGE). i'd be surprised to see them topping the bill at many major festivals outside of the US tbh (unless they've got some huge fanbase in Germany or something that i'm unaware of)

just gotta hope that TITP or another festival hasn't thrown ridiculous amounts of money at them for an exclusive or something

Its not possible to headline 40 festivals, big UK or US bands can find themselves headlining in one country but further down the bill or another stage in other countries. Just look at Phoenix last year headlining Coachella and i think they played John Peel at Glasto.

But Phoenix have never had anything close to OutKast's level of success in Europe...

I don't think it's totally unrealistic to think OutKast would sub in the UK. But if they do it'll be somewhere like Wireless or Reading where the big pay day is still on offer. I don't see them offering to sub to Kasabian at a discounted price anytime soon.

The playing '40 festivals' things sounds a bit like braggadocio. As pointed out, that's 2 a week all summer. It just doesn't feel logistically feasible.

Got to agree that they feel like a Bestival or Latitude headliner.

Big Boi hinted numerous times during their hiatus that when they reformed an album would also be made, and now it looks like that could be true also:

which makes me extremely happy as it makes the reunion seem a lot more 'real' and permanent rather than just celebrating 20 years together

as i said earlier, Wireless had Jay Z and Justin Timberlake last year - both global superstars. Outkast don't fall quite into that category / would be a bit of a step down, imo. who knows if Wireless will continue with their massive name headliners, but if so i can't see Outkast being one of them (unless the other two headliners are huge and Outkast are the 'smaller' headliner)

I could see Kanye / Outkast / Beyonce doing Wireless, and if they had a pretty full undercard for Outkast I could see it working - just can't see anywhere they could really play at Glastonbury - maybe headlining the Other Stage one of the nights?
