WAS IT HARD CHOOSING YOUR SUPER SIX FOR TICKS?

It's a well known fact that to increase your chances, the 'Strength In Numbers' approach works best. I imagine that many fortunate tickets buyers were one of many surrounded by other laptop wielding, phone hammering freaks desperate to get through to the beloved confirmation screen. It's getting hard graft every time and for the second year running I was saved by a mate. They got through by some clever reconfiguration thingy which allowed us to beat a bit of internet traffic. Don't ask me how. Haven't a scoobys!

Anyhow...

My point...

I for one had to make a decision then and there. "Go on lad! Give me your six!"

1) ME of course

2) WIFE. Goes without saying

3) BEST MATE. For shits & giggles

4) WIFE'S MATE. So the lads can enjoy a bit of male bonding and so the lovely ladies can frig off shopping'n'stuff if she isn't into that trip-hop band you are mad about without you feeling guilty for dragging em along. Plus... I hate Beyonce!

5) THE ONE THAT YOU OWE. He/She sorted you out for tickets last year. Plus he's a stand up bloke. Really good at putting up tents in the wind and rain too.

6) NEW BLOKE. He's sick and tired of hearing about how good it is. It's about time he sees it for real. It's always good to relive your first time through other's eyes, ears, nose and mouth.

MISSES...

- The bloke that ALWAYS leaves it to everyone and never makes an effort. Even expects everyone to owe him the 50 squid deposit. Cheeky bastard!

- The best mate's girlfriend. You don't know her that well and it's totally acceptable in your good opinion

- The one that doesn't add anything to the mix. Devoid of fun and although they rave about getting a ticket, they don't seem arced once they're there.

- The one that you ALLWAYS lose. Gets too smashed and has a completely different sleep/wake cycle compared to everyone else.

FINALLY...

- The one that you know will get in no matter what. He/she has his name on about 12 other lists and doesn't care about working if he/she doesn't get lucky.

Sorry for rambling on

Feel free share your experience and opinions with your fellow festival friend

We have tickets

Let's celebrate

Love

Terence x

No, as last year my so called "friends" failed to help me get a ticket even though 2011 I got theirs, So going with two people who have never been before and I can't wait to see their faces........ I will make them walk up to the Glasto sign and turn around at the top.....

So for me was an easy choice......

I love all the little "street lights" they have on the main paths......... (lightbulbs on string as it looks like) I've never seen so many at a festival before, yes some have a few area but glasto has them almost everywhere

Didn`t really have to make a choice, there were 60 of us, so 10 groups of 6 all laid out on a spreadsheet that every body had copies of. There was a bit of if X doesn`t get a ticket then Y doesn`t want one but that was all sorted out before hand.

And it worked.... mission acomplished all 60 tickets got, and we had time to try for a few stragglers that were not on the list, friends of friends etc.

Love the origanal post, made me laugh :)

In theory six of us were going to try together. Two were best mates, one of whom the rest of us knew really well and one we didn't. For some reason I have yet to figure out, they said they would just get their own leaving the remaining four to try together. Needless to say, the four of us got through and the other two didn't. They had even over slept due to going out the night before

When the better friend of the two to us finally woke up and after we had booked ours and I tell him he needs to get on it and just replied with "my laptop is broken and my mums is sh*t, I told you" which made him choosing to do try with just him and his mate even stranger. I offered to keep trying for him which took some convincing for him to let me do and told him to ask the rest to try for him too, and even that he didn't want to do.

Oh well, sucks to be those guys.

Another mate of mine was trying with some family members who I went with last year, they all didn't get one either. He is now pissed he didn't try with us, as we did offer more than once.

We had one this year that wasn't willing to get 6 tickets, he said he could only get 2. Yet he was happy to text us all his reg number and his mates. Annoyingly he got through first and got him and his mates, we got through about 3 mins before they sold out. It was tense!

Jesus, 60 people? I don't even think I have 60 friends that are all into the same thing. That is a crazy number of people for a festival, especially Glastonbury. I'd love to go with a huge group like that,

Love the one you lose....

One year went with a guy who disappeared by 8pm thursday only to turn up 9am monday, same clothes on, he had gone out with £30 and came back with no money, and was crying, about what we never did find out. he survived on hari krishna curry all weekend,

The drive home had us all crying..........

good thread, I was going me, partner, our 2 children and then it was the two who would try the hardest and most wanted to go in the first group, then the other 3 were in next group.

However I found out that the booker of the two in our group was putting another person ahead of one of my children, meaning my son was then in group 2. I never told her but I bumped her and her son into group 2 and put the other 2 people from group 2 into group 1.

Probably a bit mean of me to do that but she bugged me choosing which one of my 2 children could go and putting someone else ahead, especially when we are the main sorter outers of everything.

It was all grand anyway as a few of us got through and all were booked

I had my six but one of my friends who has never been didnt send me his registration details. I spent Saturday and Sunday morning trying to get in touch with him (Stubbsy) with no luck so ended up just booking 5 tickets, me, the wife, my best mate, his wife, and another mate. Stubbsy finally text me at half twelve on the Sunday to ask if the tickets had gone !! Unbelievable scenes !

I phoned him and asked what the deal was and he said he was arguing with his girlfriend about him going, even though she hates camping so she didnt want to go and they dont even live together, so he decided not to send me his details. She turned up at his house later on the Sunday afternoon and told him she was been unreasonable and that he could go, talk about bad timing ! A day earlier and he would have been my sixth !

Honestly, to make my numbers up to 6 would be impossible. This talk of 60 is mental. For me to get even one other person interested in going to a festival where they know the lineup, never mind Glastonbury where they don't, is very difficult!

Me: Send me £50, the first 5 can be in my group, after i've received 5, and no more tickets will be booked through my card

Everyone else: Okay *Pays Money*

Slow people: Can i still send you the money now Bobby?

Me: No.

Sunday..... We all get tickets :D

Ah the great glasto dilemma... especially in these days when sometimes only one sale goes through! I got a 70-ticket haul for various people last year, but that was mostly via the backdoor (20 in the resale). I, and all of my core group, got fuck all this year.

Sadly we're doing the resales where the question isn't "who are your best 5 mates" but "who are your best 3?" and even then you're sticking £800-£900 on your card instantly if that's the case.

My deciding criteria - anyone who gets me a ticket in previous year gets on my top table instantly. After that, best mates and their significant others.

Political...

we had a slightly political situation this year. i herded cats for ages trying to get it sorted out cos i knew the 6 ticket thing was going to be an issue but no one gave me feedback. so i compiled the list in order of who responded and gave me their details first.

we didn't manage to get tickets for the remaining 2 who would usually be core members. they'd not confirmed they even wanted to go til the friday before t-day despite my pestering. we'll have a crack team all trying for them on resale day though.

as i say, political. i stand by my first come first served order though. if we'd done it by picking our 'favourites' that could only lead to friction and real bad feeling.
