Fall Out Boy really wouldn't surprise me. I thought they would sub for ages, until the announcement showed that they could only go under Mumford. But with FOB getting tonnes of Radio 1 airplay these days, it doesn't seem so far fetched, especially considering everything announced below Bastille on that day. Waiting for their tour to sell better makes sense too as far as then being held back is concerned.

Blitz Kids aren't really big enough yet... had a tiny crowd at Sonisphere. Plus Don Broco are too low. Don't see Mallory Knox what with them doing Download and been at Reading a lot recently.

Very happy to see Halestorm on there though. Really hope they play.

It's got a bit of Simon Neil yeah, he's much better though and Biffy are my favourite band but the guy from LTB's voice is incredible, especially live.

I saw the tweet of this. It was fucking stupid. The idea was to dispel the claim that R&L doesn't book many female acts because there aren't many suitable ones? How does a poster full of acts completely unsuited to R&L disprove that?

Out of those who is suited? I've got Arcade Fire, Florence, MIA, St Vincent, Chvrches, The XX, Marmozets, Kelis, Metronomy, Daughter, Slow Club, Kate Nash, Wolf Alice, Grimes, Katy B, Ms Dynamite, Hannah Wants, Against Me, Alvvays, Tuneyards. Some of those at a stretch and ignored anyone I've not heard of.

Out of those we already have Marmozets, Wolf Alice, Hannah Wants, Alvvays and Against Me seem likely for The Pit/Lock Up. And the majority of the rest have all played in the last couple of years.

I think it was more to dispel the claims by some that there aren't enough female acts to fill a festival bill, or that '80% of female rock acts are shit'. R&L are just getting used as an example because, after Glastonbury, they're the biggest festival in the UK and arguably the most diverse too (again, after Glastonbury). People are calling out other festivals both here and oversea now too.

I think its an interesting point and one worth making. Obviously its not the festivals doing, its a problem that goes well into the music industry and beyond, but fests like R&L can be a driving force in doing something about it (and I think they will be.) Anyone who thinks music festivals are inherently sexist are daft, of course, but that doesn't mean the gender split should just be swept under the carpet.

And I still stand by point the other day that one of the major problems is 'the media' referring to girls in bands as some kind of novelty, when they're not.

I regret it. I argued with a femenist before because I callled my mate "a pussy" she replied "and what is wrong with being a vagina?"

I agree with some stuff they say about the females. Yes, there probably should be more on the bill, I just think they refuse to see the bigger picture in this instance. There's less than half of the lineup released so far...
