Close enough to Reading to go there on the day and find a tout, got a Sunday last year for £65. If not, just hit the pub all day.

I think if The Libertines play & people seeing how good Metallica were at Glastonbury on the TV it will be a sell out, or at least close to the festival. I might try Gumtree June/July.

Mumford are a perfectly reasonable headliner for R&L nowadyas, they got s hell of a crowd last time they played (up against Queens). Not a perfect fit but they'd get away with it alongside a contrasting act like Metallica.

Personally I wouldn't see any of three so it would take one hell of an undercard or some seriously impressive NME headliners (highly unlikely) to get me interested.

Mumfords were fine for the festival in 2010 when they were a quaint, up and coming festival act. There were people (probably people here) who watched them then that probably hate them now they're a massive act that are favourites with their parents. I couldn't honestly say "Coldplay aren't right for R+L" to people (that one guy) if the likes of Mumford are headlining. I am more than willing to (figuratively) eat my words if they do headline but I just don't see it.

I bumped into Miles Kane at a Liverpool game 2 weeks ago and asked him whens he next touring. He told me that he is working on the new album, but doesn't know when he'll be touring. But he told me he was playing at reading fest.

Interesting. I forgot he existed. Cheers.

Libertines it is then

Libertines and mumford (it probably) is then

Thanks for the announcement.

She isn't necessarily saying they're playing. :P

Libs/metallica/mumford is stronger than queens,paramore/arctics/blink lol

Agreed,it's very strong in my eyes. Melvin has said all three headliners 'Have guitars' and one is 'Not a typical R&L headliner' (Mumfords). I think the three offer great diversity within R&L's normal fan base

Mumfords will sell loads of tickets to people who might not have necessarily gone to R&L, Libs will sell loads of tickets to people who probably would have gone anyway, smart move by Melvin.

It sold out last year as well though.

The geezer was selling wristbands he purchased off people who had left early (so he said)

been said 1000 times but Libs/Mumfords/Metallica with a decent NME headliner or Refused up against mumfords would be a great set of headliners

    • Cool, if potentially completely exhausting, idea.
    • We don't have any choice but I don't need a t-shirt for it! 🙂    On the bright side, it gets it out of the way for a nice 5 year run... notwithstanding wars, new contagious diseases and apocalypse.
