when one festival can put literally whoever they want on because they've sold out on name alone, and another is fucking Reading, any comparison is far from apt

I didn't mean the whole festival - just that particular booking. The crowds aren't massively different at R+L and Glastonbury and a headliner at Reading taking a lesser slot for a smaller fee does make R+L booking them to headline look weak doesn't it?

Well the original point was about the whole festival, but no, I still don't think so. It also seems odd bringing fees into the mix when you're talking about Glasto, they could have the same slots but Glasto would still pay less, so would R&L booking them still be 'weak'?

Yeah perhaps with all the exclusivity stuff that R+L have always been so big on. Where does it stop if that doesn't seem weak? If Royal Blood headline and don't headline at other places and that won't be a weak booking because Glastonbury's sold out?

It is something that bookers obviously care about as R+L booked SOAD to sub and Copping had quite the opposite of a Cho Sued moment and spat his dummy out because he had them headline on basically the same tour.

Who knows, the comment was about the Libs at R&L and Glastonbury. You won't find a hard and fast rule, it will be different for every situation and from person to person. It's all objective.
