Well then I just don't understand why you're bringing up the fact that they've never held back their bands that are also headlining Latitude.

Mate, there is nothing to it more than that and there doesn't need to be. The hunch might be right or wrong like anything else. The only point is that neither have held back an act from each other so there shows no reason now, plus the last time it happened the Latitude header was 3rd down. Bit pedantic on that last part but true!

Do you go from headlining a 10k fest to subbing 2 80k fests?

No not really... but would still argue he is big enough. Had a big slot at Glasto in 2013 with a huge crowd (same slot Lana Del Rey did this year and I'd argue she could easily sub headline Reading...) and he's only gotten bigger since then. He's got his arena tour and had a number one album. I don't think it'd be too much of a stretch for him to sub headline. Especially to someone like Mumfords. There's all likelihood I'll be wrong but other than Alt-J I have no idea who the sub would be and this is my best guess atm.

I think they'l be at V festival quite low on the lineup, and after the album probably headline the NME next year.

Thing is it doesn't seem like they've had a massive decline! I still know plenty of people that like & listen to them even now!

2012/13

3rd down main at IOW

4th down main at T (this was in the run up to new album as well)

3rd down main at R+L

3rd down main at Glastonbury

4th down main at V

2015

headlining Sound City

4th down Main or 3rd down 2nd (just below alt-j) at T

headlining 2nd stage at Latitude

headlining Kendal Calling

It doesn't seem a massive decline. I just said in the other thread that they seem to have fallen off a cliff but then realised they just hadn't really grown and are taking headline slots where possible. I can't see them 'low down' at V at all.

Headlining NME stage this year at R+L where Rebel Sound are would've been a good booking.

I'm going towards Ben Howard as the sub... Was thinking about him playing a bit lower before his arena tour got announced and was probably rightfully shot down at the time as he doesn't really fit the festival. However, since he doesn't seem to be at any of the bigger fests in the UK, his arena tour is doing really well and that he would suit subbing Mumford & Sons I'm sticking with him. He's been announced for a few smaller things like Citadel and Eden Project so maybe he is special guests to give them a bit of a chance to sell and for the arena tour to fully sell out.

He's playing Rock en Seine too

The Offspring, Interpol, Mark Lanegan playing Rock en Seine.

Guess there's not really any spots on the lineup for them?

Lanegan could. The Offspring would have to squeeze into the 4th down slot we're expecting to open up (for Gaslight Anthem). Couldn't see Interpol appearing now. That lineup seems quite poor.

Is it me or does nearly every festival seem to be very very indie this year? Seriously lacking some rock music

Lol Portishead and Alt J no way on the level of NGHFB, I reckon they Spunked the budget a bit much on that

Caribou and James Blake subbing wtf

You should probably look at some other Latitude lineups.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
