2014 Headliner predictions

Obviously they'd be subbing for Arcade Fire.

Also have you heard the new song? Fucking brilliant, and about 5 times the length of your average Pixies song. Sound like a completely new band, over the moon that they've rejuvenated and not just rehashed old stuff without Kim.

If (and it's a very very very big if) Led Zep were to be a strong rumour / possibility for 2014 then ticket sales day could be interesting.

It is generally accepted - reference Guiness Book of World Records no less - that there were 20 million applications for their O2 Reunion gig back in 2007.

I know that the Glastonbury pre-registration system would probably curtail that number somewhat but if the rumours strengthened we could reasonably expect a noticeable proportion of those same peeps to consider applying.

To put it into further context we were fortunate in getting tickets for the O2 gig. Having gone through the ticket collection process at the O2 we then camped outside the arena (with 100's of others) for the best spots inside (standing tickets). There were peeps from all over the world in that Q with us. Some had spent £1000s to ensure they were there. Americans, Australians, New Zealand, Japan, ..... We were next to someone in the Q who had flown in from some pacific island somewhere. What's more a lot of these people had paid for travel / accommodation twice because the original date was cancelled when Jimmy P injured his finger.

Yeah, the start where you just here the electronic bit I was thinking 'holy crap I'm not gonna like this' but it was great! Glad they kept the classic Pixies' droning guitars in the new sound too so it's different but still unmistakably them.

Also as much as we all love Kim; they seem to have done a brilliant job replacing her. Can't go wrong with a female bassist called Kim.

does anyone else think that if the headliners are released/leaked then it could make Tday far far worse?

I quite like the surprise, the headliners don't make or break the festival but it would be nice to think that people who want to go to Glastonbury for everything the festival is stand a chance of getting tickets first time round as opposed those people who go for one headliner only.

metal at glastonbury would flop like a pancake.

It takes alot to get the crowd to jump to a regular act, let alone a metal act because metal with a silent still crowd always fails.

I just don't see all this "metal makes evert festival better attitude", not everyone fucking likes metal. If you want metal go to download it doesn't have a place at many other fests just accept it.

It's like me posting on downloads forums, 'THIS FESTIVAL NEEDS MORE DUBSTEP, EVERYONE LOVES DUBSTEP'.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
    • Taxi mafia running their usual scam.
