Think their options are basically - Primal Scream, Dizzie Rascal (2 most likely), or a move from the Other of either Smashing Pumpkins, Foals or Portishead (Chase and Status not suited, and The XX not right for that slot - probably think they would have had SP headlining the other if The XX didn't suck in the daytime).

My money would be on Primal Scream.

Oh god I've just realised that if they do pull out there's going to be tons of:

"But (Primal Scream/Dizzee Rascal/Smashing Pumpkins/...) aren't big enough to headline Glastonbury; they should have booked (Daft Punk/Prince/David Bowie/...)"

I'm not sure I will be able to deal with that level of idiocy.

Fancied adding my 2 penneth

I am no massive Mumfords fan but I wish this Ted a speedy recovery. Cant see them pulling out though, will likely get a replacement, even if to just over bass duties and the other members still switch to banjo, washboard, maracas, triangle, woodblock..... Whatever the hell it is they play!

I was gonna go see them out of desperation so if they pull out, I hope NCATBS get boosted. Ultra long version of Stagger Lee ftw!

Just been mentioned on BBC Points West news - they say they are definitely out, and due to contractual reasons the replacements have to have a "And" in their name, so Chas And Dave have been approached, and they are just waiting to hear back.

Get well soon Ted. Not my choice and I won't be there but fair play to them they've smashed America and a group of lads from the uk have done well

If these chaps play on without their bandmember who has just had life-saving surgery they're the lowest of the low. Theyve a long career ahead of them and can easily re-schedule.

On the other hand it could be a minor snip and the fella is back in the mix after a week.

Doubt it though.

Didn't read the whole thread, probably already mentioned but Bonnaroo festival in the US say they're still playing this Saturday night and if that's true then they'll obviously still be playing Glasto.

It's really their choice if they want to do Glastonbury without a band member. I just hope the guy is OK, recovers quickly and gets back to touring with them asap.

As someone who finds them as bland as a piece of plain A4 paper I still hope they don't cancel (Unless it means booking Prince or having Nick Cave headline - both of which have 0.3% likelyhood) as they clearly have the popularity at the moment to do it.

There is plenty of other stuff on Sunday night anyway (BOBBY WOMACK!) But if they are still playing Bonaroo I guess they will still be playing Glastonbury anyway.

(800th post...catching up with you lot...fitting it's about a headliner cancellation)

Glasters has it easy with 2 weeks...compared to Bonnaroo which starts this weekend and has Macca, Mumfords and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers headlining. Interesting to see what happens there...if they play without Ted, I think we'll know what we're getting. keep an eye out for announcement on their site (below)

most on here rave about Coachella, but Bonnaroo is same in size and stature and is actually a bit closer to the Glasto vibe (for a US festie) than Coachella. It's one of the 2 biggies in the US festival and i imagine their staff are shitting their pants now.

while we think of replacements, interesting to note that Macca is at Bonnaroo this weekend, would obviously know that the Mumfords are at Glasto too...hmm...could he jump on the phone and be gracious? would be a massive pr coup for him and face it, there are those out there who don't like him...

I thought of Steve Winwood too...his time to pay up for skipping out on his headline slot on Sunday in 1997? Could he conceivably move to Sunday from a relatively indiscreet sat slot before a cover band? But, I just checked and see he has another gig Sunday…

Neil Young & Crazy Horse – that other special guest cancellation in ’97…I think it’s way too short notice to have him throw in a date in the UK, when he is right in the middle of a June 17 and July 14 gap…but remind him that the Stones are playing?
