I reckon there could be something. The last of the VIP tickets, hospitality tickets etc were offered out today. I was offered two in 10 minutes!

Something going on at Glasto HQ.

not the 'last', you mean the last of the tickets for mug punters in the music biz.

It's merely tying up the loose ends with tickets so everything that can go into the pot for the coming normal sale is in that pot.

Ouch! Mug punters in the music biz...

well, that's what they are. :)

They pay about double the ticket price for a 'hospitality' wristband that at the best festival in the world allows them access to something which isn't the festival. And all because they like others to think that they're somehow special because they don't attend the festival while those others do.

I'd consider buying one if I didn't get a normal ticket, but so a friend who works at a major record co says, lots of the staff can't wait to buy their ticket to the not-festival (she meanwhile waits till those that will sell have sold, and then talks the person with tickets but no buyers into giving her a freebie )

Sure, I take your point... Still, in this case it was the last "safe" option available to get a couple of tickets.

My friends have zero interest in the "not festival" areas and will camp with us in the "proper" festival and drink with us at the regular bars and use the regular loo's as well!

I bought one reluctantly in 2011, having missed out in the resale.

Thankfully got one the usual route this time.

'Hospitality' areas were a waste of space - just felt, like Neil says, that you weren't in the festival.

But wouldn't blame anyone for buying one if they couldn't get in otherwise...

I had a backstage pass at Bestival once as I was covering it in a past career. It was pretty dull. It was basically just a tent, with a few free warm beers, Gary Numan playing with a minature saxaphone, Florence moaning that she had got mud on her dress and Phil Jupitus going in and out the gate ranting.

The most amusing bit was after The Specials played their return surprise gig thing the security wouldn't let Phil back in and he actually uttered the line "Don't you know who I am". Priceless :)

    • Yes, that's why I think Interpol would be a good fit for the Wednesday so that they don't take up a prime Mordor slot on the other days.
    • but it is loyalists doing the rioting...so he can also make a point there.
    • I don’t know what was going on with SEE tickets for Phoebe Bridgers this morning.. I had a presale code, got into the sale after queuing for 15mins with the green bars of doom.. but no map to choose seats from, just categories like “aisle seat” and “reserved seat” and sometimes a drop down of the section, but you had no idea where in the section the seat was… then you clicked through and either got “no tickets available” or a captcha which just kept looping no matter how well you selected the thing it was asking you to identify.. then eventually it spat you out to another “not enough tickets available” message.. I went through that loop SO many times.. I was doing captchas endlessly.. it was totally borked.    in the end I went back to the email with the presale code in, it then directed me to ticketmaster rather than see, still for Manchester, and I could then see the tickets on the map .. get them in my basket etc ..but there was only upper tier left.. so going to try my luck on ticketmaster for the main sale.. SEE was total garbage!
