The uncertainty about getting a ticket which means I join discussions like this facing the possibility of not actually going. Talking about it almost seems like tempting fate.

Yes not only is it going to be ticket bedlam this year but ill be on hmoon so relying on the kindness of others

Definitely the stress of ticket day! Although I totally appreciate the reasons for it being set up as it is.

The drama of checking the weather forecast 24/7 for weeks before the festival feels a bit like part of Glastonbury tradition for me now, although I'd prefer no mud obviously.

Oh & I'd like it to be longer - 5 days is not enough to do everything that I'd like to!

Creeping in? It's always been there. The festival was originally Pilton Pop Festival and it's always had loads of pop acts.

The site camping wise has become to busy for me - got in early last year and alot of areas already taken

The queues to get in on Tuesday outrageous, you used to be able to roll up Wednesday morning 1st thing and have a reasonable journey in.

Price of success and people getting the most for their money no doubt.

As i say yiu don't need to contest, obviously opinions differ. I'm more interested in your dislikes. I think over espec the last ten years especially the main stages have lost a little edge

if they've lost any edge it's only cos what is the current pop is less edgy.

I'm starting to conclude that people are unable to recognise that something is pop music if it's music to their tastes.

yep, they are (or at least, were) - as are the likes of Coldplay, The Verve, Blur, Oasis, The Killers, etc, etc, etc. Which was my point.

It's not an attempt to pigeonhole stuff by me, just a statement of fact. Some music is very definitely not pop - tho there's a lot of stuff 'in the middle' which could be argued over for which side of the line it falls - because it's 'underground' music which doesn't have so much in the way of commercial success.

My list of dislikes is small and trivial

- Car park style signs telling you how busy shangri-la is

- Posh kids. I know we're at Glastonbury and we should all love each other but their voices and their endless desire for "bahhhhhhhnter" grate me

- Castle Chairy at the Pyramid stage

- The line up is the most varied you'll find anywhere. But for my tastes - there isn't quite enough ATP/Pitchfork-esque bands there. They're there but it could do with a few more. Beats having yet another this year's hype band there. Dance area is a good example of this. It caters very well to a couple of demographics - older ravers, radio 1 kids and a couple of NME hype synth bands. But the stuff I'd like to see - F**k buttons, walls, John talabot etc aren't. No biggie, just a downer for me

Well pops changed but maybe the word has to, its not really associated with just being "Popular" music anymore is it? Its more of a genre of manufactured rubbish, boy bands etc. Which is what I think most people are referring to, is the genre pop rather than POPular music

Only one thing and thats the walk from the car. Two years straight Ive been sent in at the car parks at Gate C and had to walk all the way to Gate A, and then make at least one more round trip to get all our stuff. I had to make two last year as we took the kids with us so had more stuff to get back to the tent, and only after the festival had finished did I find out the stewards were letting anyone in the family camping near Gate C. A bit more organisation in distributing people to all the gates would easily solve that problem.

But the genre pop includes so many things. As was said a while back, chances are, any headliner of a major festival is going to have to include some pop elements. U2, Coldplay and Beyonce could all be deemed pop, same with The Cure, Kasabian and Foo Fighters at R&L this year. There's pop in it all.

The point I was trying to make is that Glasto has always featured whatever is the current pop music, and presumably it always will.

So if the current pop music is (say) Oasis, Glastonbury gives us Oasis. If the current pop music is (say) Beyonce, Glastonbury gives us Beyonce.

The type of pop music that is currently popular changes as the years go by, but Glastonbury booking current pop acts does not. That was how it was in the 70s, 80s, 90s, and the noughties - and I don't expect it will change for this decade either.
