The World Cup has the joy of seeing much more variety in style. African and South American footballing nations add a stupid amount of value. And as you say, Japan played some really nice stuff 2 years ago as well. I think the European teams do play better in the Euros, partially because they're more familiar with the opposition (both in terms of players and styles), but I think the conditions has a huge effect. Playing in places such as South Africa and Japan has hindered European teams in the past, and I'm sure it'll be similar in Brazil and Qatar.

Great that Group B is still up for grabs. Hard to see the Germans not beating Denmark, leaving Portugal-Holland a tense game. I expect Portugal to play the disgraceful defensive game they have fairly frequently over the past 4 years.

in regards to the comments about punditry, sure the bbc has been stupid at times, but itv's is 100 times worse. the bias they have is shocking, and the other day for the greece game they actually called them garbage. didn't even try and make it sound polite by saying something like "they've underperformed" or whatever.

ireland don't have much of a chance tomorrow i don't think...

These 2 days are should provide us very good matches as groups C and D are still very close and practically all the 8 teams concerned are still have a chance to qualify.

Its funny to watch all the arm chair "fans" running around patting themselves on the back and convincing each other that their arm chair support is real support :)

'fans' are not necessarily 'supporters'.

I'm a fan of football. That means I'm a fan, but not necessarily a supporter.

Those with more than 3 cells to their brains have already worked that one out. :)

Agreed... Totally...

Fans are ten to the penny and the ones who care more about the product, greed and image which you seen to crave... After all its all a big movie to you and not about sport...

you really don't get it at all, do you?

Appreciating the sport above anything else is what people like me do, while club supporters do not.

But for you its not your love of the "sport" its the love of the "show"... It entertainment to you... To me its competitive sport...

No it's not, you small minded moron.

If I just wanted 'the show', care to explain why I've made countless posts over the years in support of the sporting aspect, while 'fans' like you take the attitude of (say) "well, if he's touched he's entitled to go down" (which is cheating!!!!)?

Some of us follow our teams but care more about the health of football.

I care about the health of football above all other aspects you moron.

That doesn't stop me from wanting to see decent games.

You forget what you posted not more than a day ago

no, it's nothing like that at all.

You keep proving with every post you've made back against what I said that you don't have even the smallest understanding of what I said.

Until you are able to understand what I've said, your comments about what I've said will continue to be 100% wrong.

So, Barry's idiocy aside...

I'm really psyched for Italy-Croatia. I reckon this has the potential to be one of the best matches in the group. While a draw wouldn't be an awful result for either team, it'd mean Croatia needing a point against Spain and Italy to definitely beat Ireland comfortably, as well as for each the other result going their way (all assuming Spain beat Ireland). Croatia are a team in good nick, and I reckon the Italians will feel a bit more pressure to go for this than they might have done.

You talk so much bullshit.... Saying everything while at the same time claiming to say nothing of the sort, its pointless

PMSL.

To be able to comment intelligently on what I've said you first have to be able to understand what I've said. There's a small lesson for you there.

Just because I said I wish to be entertained by the football I watch doesn't mean anything towards the sporting aspect which you have decided - from nothing I've said - that I don't care about.

My interest is firstly football, not clubs. And guess what's a big part of football, but not any part of club appreciation? The sporting aspect.

Surely it was ok to presume that I meant within the laws of the game... Not a big fan of drugs etc either....

the laws of the game say it's OK to fall over at the slightest touch and claim a foul.

Sportmanship says that doing that is cheating.

Seems you don't know your own mind.

I hope Ireland get something today but I would be very surprised. Fact is that spain are in the top 2 best teams in the tournament ad Ireland are probably in the worst 2. I suppose if Spain struggle to score early on they may get frustrated but if they score early Ireland will struggle to touch the ball for the rest of the game.
