There would only be a couple of bands that I would get a day ticket to see top a bill alone, and that would only be if they had'nt had their own shows. I wouldn't part with best part of £100 for one band alone the undercard would have to appeal at least another two bands for me.

The bread and butter is weekend tickets though and biffy are a staple R&L band.

Biffy will attract as many day ticketers as many other bands have down the years, MCR, Arcade Fire, the strokes, the killers, KOL.

It's only huge bands who attract a load of day ticketers alone.

I believe Biffy will be the indie type headliner this year. Them and eminem have the appeal from the mainstream.

Plus their is no set rules for headliners. Their isn't always an indie type headliner.

I very much doubt Biffy would have been a second choice. R&L knew that they were releasing a new album this year and are popular enough for them to step up. Getting them on an exclusive with the new album would be a shrewed move. With the new album it makes more sense to get them now than in a years time when all the hype around the album has petered out.

That and the fact Benn said that he had all headliners in place by the fest last year would also suggest that.

I'm thinking the third headliner might be SOAD after that thrash hits tweet, after all part one of it was true. At least that's the hope I'm clinging to is, as they are about the only band that could get me to a festival this year. Biffy for me is a great bonus.

Has it been confirmed biffy are headlining or neils sources?
I've had some info from someone I know, who tells me that Biffy are headlining.

While I can't be sure right now that what he's telling me is right - it will be checked out by other means as soon as I'm able - right now I'm heavily inclined to believe that it's true.

I can see Bloc Party playing below Eminem. Biffy will have a strong-ish sub I think, but I'm not sure who, The Prodigy?

I'm quite stuck thinking of subs. I really can't see The XX playing that high. Paramore would have been a good booking because of their New album coming out soon, but they played 2012 and I can't see them doing a Bloc Party and subbing 2 years in a row.

Mumford are headlining TITP and there's talk of Glasto & V too so I don't think at all that they would be an R&L sub.

And I think that if they wanted Jack White they would have got him in 2012 because of his album.

i reckon the prodigy is about as strong as they'll get, decent and will have a couple of new tracks to promote. I'd be inclined to put the xx 3rd belon them too.

Bloc party subbing Eminem would be a good shout. In fairness, if soad did headline, they need a stronger sub than biffy and the prodigy accepting a sub slot below them i can't see.

Its unlikely but with a new album out next year, paramore doing a bloc with a double subbing year isn't out the question, they could well outright headline it themselves by the following year.

With Jack white, they could have got him before but there still seems to be loads of interest around him. If the festival got the prodigy, bloc party and Jack white, that's fairly strong, but i reckon chuck paramore in there and 3 out of 4.

I can see The XX subbing Biffy on a day similar to Kasabian last year, that would be popular with the kids & NME readers :P

Something like

Biffy Clyro

The XX

Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Jake Bugg

Of Monsters & Men

Tribes

Twin Atlantic

Cage The Elephant

Pure Love

Not sure how well that would do in terms of shifting day tickets though

Surely they wouldn't have the Prodigy subbing Biffy, that just wouldn't look right at all, especially looking at last year's download lineup.

I see Bloc Party subbing Eminem, would work pretty well. They are indie enough as to not alienate the core demographic of the festival and mainstream enough to satisfy a lot of Eminem fans.

I think the XX would be a great sub playing in darkness, i think they have the album sales and the critical acclaim to back it up. I think they would work well under Biffy.

As for Jack White i think there's a bit of a question mark over him. The fact that he completely ducked the festival scene last year and from what he's said in interviews it seems like he's maybe not too keen on doing them. However he would obviously work well under Biffy and would shift a lot of tickets. Personally i'm gonna wait for more actual evidence from Neil before seriously considering him

Why do people keep suggesting that The Prodigy are a sub headliner band.....seriously.

If they are to play they will only headline.

Good news about Biffy if true... Biffy and Eminem..shaping up nicely at the top end of the lineup =)

    • Pretty much all festivals lose out on major artists because of production limitations though. Glastonbury is no different to most other festivals.  Lots of acts can/will adapt their tour production to suit festival stages if they want to play them, but some acts with stage designs and routines just don't want to adapt, and would rather just stick with a rigid, well-rehearsed production and take the money for their own gigs, whether that's a lot more than playing Glastonbury, or slightly less than playing some other festivals (but with added complications). Trying to adapt the stage, layout, access to b-stages etc to accommodate a single headliner on a Friday and then having to change it all around for a Saturday headliner isn't really a goer when most headliners can just easily adapt their show to stay on a main stage, if they're so inclined. They have a year to figure out how to perform a song on a main stage and ditch a few dance routines out on a b-stage if they really put their mind to it. It's not that difficult......
