Neil, when a festival gives you the embargo on not being able to announce an act, are you allowed to say you've been embargoed? Is there a secret code word you can drop on this forum once it's clear that the act has been locked down but you're not at liberty to say anything?

I've no real idea.

I once got told off by a major festival's press office for posting about an email I'd had to inform me that I'd be getting an embargo'd press release.

The uninformed outsider's view of yours truly is that the Stones have Glastonbury firmly penciled in and are pretty sure they'll do it, but they're holding out until the very last second because a). they want to squeeze the Eavii for all they've got, in a staring contest we know (and, more pertinently, Jagger knows) who'll blink first, and b ). because there's a 0.00000001% beardy Branson may offer them a trillion pounds and an everlasting supply of coke to be the first ever band to play on the moon or some shit like that. Basically, Glastonbury is in the bag for them, they can afford to piss around because they know it's there if they want it.

Re; Serge, let's not forget this man has made a career out of talking bullshit and presenting it as fact, he told everybody his shit band were great and worthy of headlining R&L and Hard Rock Calling, lo and behold...

The man's a fucking idiot and knows nothing, at most he knows they turned down HRC, that's it, he's just enjoying giving it the big "I am" in the papers, it's not an unreasonable assumption to make, and he can claim to be a clued up genius when it comes out as true.

Or .... as he's aware that his band are playing HRC as they were the back up band should the Stones drop out and choose to play Glastonbury??

Plus he's in the industry there is a good chance a fair few people are genuinely ITK and he's just the 1st to let slip?

I find it hard to dislike this serge fellow. Everything about him screams "whopper" but he's living the dream.

His band are headlining festivals, playing songs he's written. He no doubt lives the rockstar lifestyle.

Fair enough I think his music is godawful, but sat here typing this at my desk in london....well I wonder who the whopper actually is

Take That // Digital Spy "hint at Glastonbury"

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a463875/take-that-to-headline-2014-glastonbury-festival.html

Don't put an oz of credence in this, but thought I'd add just in case...

ah well, Take That will be disappointed, cos Eavis already has the bands lined up for next yea\r.

Mind you, I strongly suspect that one of the acts he has lined up isn't actually going to happen in the end, cos there's a long time between now and June 2014.

The other two are much more likely to stick. There's a lot of real enthusiasm from the band members.

    • My party again had an outstanding 4 days in Barca. We made the right call to leave the festival site early at about 10.30 on Thursday to get ourselves some excellent steaks in the city. I am with everyone that the organization should have been clearer about what is going on and also if you would like to get rid of some attendees open more exits, they sent us from gate to gate until we finally were able to get out. Biggest 'disappointment' was the beer price, a YoY increase from 5 to 6 is absolutely nuts!!! (i am living in Switzerland so me making this comment says something 🙂)   Top 10:   1. Men I Trust 2. Role Model (could have been first as well, what a great artist and great songs) 3. The XX 4. The cure (the last 90 minutes) 5. Gorillaz 6. MBV 7. Ninajirachi (another big miss of the organization, clearly on the wrong podium and wonder if Olivia's surprise set had something to do with that and they had to reschuffle late the Occident, Cupra and Port schedules) 8. NewDad 9. Big Thief 10. Annastashia      We did 3 years Barca now and for next year looking at the Porto or Bilbao festivals as an option.
    • Personally if it was me now, I would be grabbing a green camping ticket with the knowledge closer when I've refreshed that I can still choose general if I want to....you can't do the opposite!    I would say if you are happy to watch your headliners and big bands further back to be able to see who you actually plan to later then yes it is fine. Its a much difference experience to any other festival especially food wise and camping surrounds.    Once you're in the arena as well you're not going back unless you've got a gap. If I go again I'll be going with the option of not trying to push the front and enjoying further back as you actually put too much pressure on it than the time take away can forget to enjoy other acts.
    • No complaints about the sound. We were like 2nd set of steps facing stage right in like the middle row.
    • On the whole then, yay or nay...I've had a look on festivals united and there's people who seem converted by Rock Im Park, I can imagine it might be different if it was a washout as RaR is tarmac.   The hotel side would be more to convince the non campers if it's an option. On my first visit to rock am ring we were shuttled into the area where you could stick the car next to the tent which was fantastic as it meant zero lugging of camping gear.
